I hear ya. I don't want Sherman back either, but that doesn't mean he won't replace him. Philbin has left himself wiggle room to either replace Sherman or not. Time will tell. IMO, at the very least Sherman should go and if Philbin won't replace him, he should go, too!

I've been supportive of these coaches and GM this past year, but after those last 2 games of total annihilation by lesser teams, I can now say FIRE THEM ALL. Starting From Ireland all the way down the coaching tree. No gameplan and totally unprepared. All they needed was 1 win out of those last 2 games for a playoff spot and they failed completely. Get a GM and HC combo that work.

You might be right, but I get the feeling that Sherman being Joe's mentor, is going to stick with him no matter what. That is unless Sherman resigns.

I think this team regressed despite winning 1 more game. I absolutely believe this team's coaching regressed. I absolutely believe this team's talent regressed. I just don't see anything but a perpetually average squad, coaching staff and front office.

Not acceptable to me. I don't buy into the NFL's new standard of parity. I believe in excellence.

Again, I'm not gonna defend Philbin, but the fact that this team's defense was good enough to win 8 games (and maybe more if the offense didn't stink) with Ellerbe, Wheeler, Carroll, Jones and Wilson out on the field is a testament to our defensive coaching. I don't know. I have specific criticisms of the coaching staff (datruth brings up a few that come to mind immediately with respect to Mike Sherman) but I just don't feel the talent level on this team is very good overall.

I honestly believe that this team has below average or flat out terrible talent at the following positions: OT, G, RB, TE, LB, CB, S, K

You may feel I'm being harsh on the talent, but... how do you feel about Tyson Clabo? John Jerry? Daniel Thomas? Lamar Miller? Michael Egnew? Dion Sims? Wheeler? Ellerbe? Reshad Jones (terrible this year), Wilson, Carroll, etc?

That's what bothers me here. A lot of people are talking about 'fixing' one or two positions or bringing in a new QB and suddenly winning 12 games next year. I don't see it. I think this team overachieved and I think our QB was actually a net positive who helped this team compensate for deficiencies. You may disagree with that, but again, how do you feel about those players I named? Because I think we have about 9 starters who are just plain bad on this team.

Bringing Sherman back should be a deal-breaker. If they are a package deal, let them both go. You can't have guys at this level employing a ton of friends and relatives.

Because at this point, it seems like everyone is acting like a bunch of simple-minded emotional basket cases demanding a public execution just to satisfy their lust for blood-vengeance.

Just because Philbin tells the media he supports Sherman, doesn't mean Sherman will still be with Miami next year. Remember when VW's lifelong hero and man-crush, Nick Saban, told the media he was not going to Alabama...? How did that pan out? I would relax, the offseason JUST started.

I can't believe Joe's sticking up for Sherman full-force...This is Sparano/Henning all over again. Hoping this is some kind of smokescreen going on where they'll coax him to resign peacefully behind closed doors.
There's simply no way I can watch this team next year with full confidence if he's going to continue to call the plays.

So, you want him to not only throw himself and his coaching staff under the bus, but Ireland as well? I just don't think that is a realistic expectation. Especially in a league where you never know who you might be asking to hire you next.

"Joe, how important will it be to focus on rebuilding this offensive line in the next coming months"

Philbin response: "Well we look at all positions and evaluate what needs to be done"

OMG I am going to lose it. Nothing he says gives any reason to hope.

One of my biggest criticisms of Philbin is, in fact, the way he speaks to the press. That's his only means of having some contact with us fans.

Now, I don't expect you to be Cicero up there, but when your team is hemorrhaging fans at an unprecedented rate, you'd damn well better give a press conference that's longer than 9 minutes and you'd damn well better actually give some human answers instead of trying to emulate Bill Belichick right after a season ending loss. Because buddy, even Bill Belichick can be verbose, funny, insightful, and engaging with the media. You're never that, and that's a problem.

I liked Joe a lot more when he wasn't reading off of note cards handed to him by Dawn Aponte.

Dude, I do not think you're being harsh on the talent. I think you're spot on that's why I said the talent regressed. I just think Phailbin and staff are part of the talent decision making and they failed miserably.

I listed in another thread the amount of talent we need. Something like 11 players or so.

I just think Phailbin (and staff) has a mediocre mind set and he embraces slightly better mediocrity as improvement.
