Joe Philbin: QB Matt Moore is ready

Not sure how you can say going 9-0 or 8-1 to finish a season while your QB has a 90+ rating isn't dominating. That's about as dominant as you can get

because beating the raiders, bills, chiefs, chargers, jets, broncos, and one quality team (patriots) just doesn't get me all that excited. especially when the hypothetical didn't happen.

kinda like when we got mopped up by the ravens in the year of the Pennington. beating up or winning games against the bottom of the league doesn't make you dominant

matt moore fumbled the ball three times in the dallas game. he only lost one, but the other two resulted in a loss of 20 yards. 0% redzone efficiency, 0/4, and 0fer on goal to go situations. he led us to 4 field goals, stuff other qbs on this team get roasted for. not leading the team to enough touchdowns. we were 3/12 on third downs. by the time the game was over our defense had given up two touchdowns in like 4 games. we let the cowboys score 2 tds and 2 fgs, and we could only muster one touchdown, which by the way was to brandon marshall for 35 yards, who ppl on finheaven are all of sudden glad hes gone. without that we dont' even get in the endzone against this pitiful defense.

the denver game was horrible from a miami dolphins quarterback standpoint. several things stand out to me. first of all for 54 minutes, denver didn't sniff a point, in 54 minutes, If i am to believe matt moore is elite, in a home game especially, we should have had a comfortable lead. instead we get two first half field goals. again we get the matt moore signature multiple fumble game, 2 fumbles 1 lost. and the one lost would prove to be a game clincher as 3 plays later prater hits the game winning fg... 3/14 on 3rd down, 4.7ypa, just barely ahead of tim tebows 4.0, 1/3 in the red zone, and a failed two point conversion.

if we manage to score 1 freakin point in either the 1st or 3rd quarter we beat the broncos. nobody is gonna convince me this guy can be elite.. and evidently as based by the FO publicly searching for and proclaiming needing a qb to get us over the hump, they can't be convinced either... all this small talk about matt moore being ready, and able, is to save face since we have yet to land a quarterback anybody thinks actually has a chance to lead us over the hump.

I agree with you to a certain degree on, but the previous coaching staff had a vagin between their legs when it came to "going for it". I expect our mentality to change with the new staff who should be more agressive in those situations.

Right on. Moore could not beat Tebow and Tebow is a backup right now. Essentially Moore is a good quality backup QB. Never been to the playoffs. Never been on a winning team. Moore = fiedler and I did not like fiedler.

Really? worse than Jacksonville's or Cleveland's? worse than the Rams?

Easily. Our #1 WR is nothing more than a #4 WR on any team worth a damn. We have a good slot WR. That's it. Nobody else on the entire roster has done anything, and our #1 WR has 2 TD's the last 2 seasons. Maybe Cleveland is worse but I'll say they're about equal.

he closed out the jets in the last game, so we will see what happens next, they still have to draft a guy

As an Oregon State alum, I will always root for Matt Moore. Even though, as any other Dolphins fan, I am aware of his shortcomings.

If it is truly a two-way battle between Moore and Garrard, I am rooting for Moore. He's more of a gamer than a practice guy and I want to at least see what he can do in this offense

Moore did fumble a lot. He has to take care of the ball. That said, the right side of the oline was a turn style. On some of the plays he fumbled, the guy was in on him quickly. Also, Pouncey had a rep for bad exchanges in college. That could have been part of the problem as well. Both guys were new to each other and they were learning on the fly. I want to see if Moore can reduce the fumbles behind a more solid oline, plus with Pouncey getting his rookie season over with, I am sure that there will be improvement..

As long as we dont play QB carousel, we should be ok. If we start playing QB carousel and start flipping back and forth with the QB's, its going to be a long season.

Oh I got news for ya. This upcoming season is going to be a long season whether we flip flop QBs or not. A team with a new QB, RT, RG, LG, no #1 WR, new HC, new OC, new DC, two new safties and at least one new LB, is not going to be out throwing up a 9-7 record. If everything works out GREAT and we have a 100% better draft than we have had off season, which with Ireland running things is not very likely, we are still looking at 7-9 as being a GREAT season. Deal with it folks, we are REBUILDING!!!

I think most of this entire thread is more about the perspective of the QB position than it is about the way different fans see Moore. Those who like Moore, like him because he is at least the 3rd best maybe the 2nd best QB that we have had since Danny. That isn't saying much but when you haven't eaten in a few weeks a can of sardines looks pretty good. I don't believe many of the Moore supporters think he has a great shot at being a top 5 QB. They just think he is better than what we have had the last few years.

Now on the other side, those against Moore being our starter see about the same thing. They also think that he might be at best a top 10-15 QB but they understand that this has turned into a pass first league, and you MUST have a elite QB to be a contenter year in year out. It's not that they are pulling against Moore, it's just they know you are wasting your time if you have someone whom has a ceiling some where around 10th best in the league.

As for my opinion I am from Charlotte and have always loved Moore. I can't help but pull for him, but I also feel like most of the rest around here, that at best he will be a top 10-15 qb. I also happen to think that is better than any of the remaining QBs in this years class other than Luck, or Weeden. A dark horse is maybe Foles, but the hard truth is even if you like Tanneyhill or some of the others they are going to be 2 year projects which means since we missed out on Flynn and Manning that Moore is what we have opening day for better or worse. But with no more offensive talent than what we have it really isn't going to matter. No QB short of Manning could win with what we have on offense. Don't blame Moore of any other QB for what record they come up with on this years team. This team is simply not built to win THIS season, period!!! IMO

There is no way in hell Garrard beats out Matt Moore..

I totally agree with you. David Garrad is garbage. I remember when we played him a couple of years ago. He couldn't do anything against us. We sacked him like 8 times and he threw 2 picks. Matt Flynn would of been perfect for us, but we blew it.

We are so screwed lol..
