The Palm Beach Post expects new Dolphins coach Joe Philbin to give a "serious look" at hiring former Packers coach Mike Sherman as his offensive coordinator.

Sherman was who hired Philbin in Green Bay, making him an assistant offensive line coach in 2003. The two are apparently close friends, and coached together as far back as the late 1970s. Sherman is also under consideration for the head-coaching job in Tampa Bay, but landing in Miami seems far more likely.

I'd be OK with Sherman as the OC. He has some high powered offenses in Green Bay...had a pretty high powered offense at Texas A&M too.

I am not at all surprised at this move. If so, I think that puts to rest who is calling the plays.

Hayden you may get at least half your wish.

would be happy with this but i don't think he will stay our OC for long i think he will move on in a year or two to a college program or try to become a hc for NFL

I could see this as well but that year or two could be valuable to our offense as well to a first time head coach like Philbin.

Get it done. Him and Philbin would make a great duo at HC/OC, just like McCarthy and Philbin were. Get it done.

I'd like Sherman too, but the title of this thread is a bit misleading. The Post "expecting it" isn't actually confirmation that he's doing it.

Would be a phenomenal hire. How about Tampa ****s or gets off the pot? Pick a ****ing coach.

Do not forget that Sherman develops QB's effectively.

would be ironic for Philbin to be his boss now but if they're close friends it could work for both....Philbin would get an OC that he's worked with in the past and Sherman could use it as a platform to get a HC job again.

Ozzy rules!!
