If I remember correctly, he didn't play at all last year. What is the word on him? Does he seem like he can make an impact this year, or is he still a couple of years away?

Also, Is he strictly a Tackle or can he play guard too?

Thanks

His injury was minor and he was ready to go the last half of the season, but the coach of indecision didn't know what to do with DC so he placed Toledo on IR.
By all accounts he was looking very good for a rookie, before he got injured. That's been his problem throughout college, alsways getting nicked up. He has good size and athleticism. He has 1st-2nd rd talent, but dropped to 4th rd due to his injury history.

I hope this guy can stay healthy. I think he could be something great, but I hope Houck gives him a good look this year, because, before he got hurt, was pushing for a starting spot.

HOLY TOLEDO!

Toledo and Alabi apparently were 1st-2nd round talents, but had injury concerns. im glad they sat out all of last season...apparently Alabi did real well, apparently Toledo did real well in practice...its a huge question tho cuz we arent sure if we should draft OL or not. Hadnot and Carey are keepers...

Toledo was set to start as a rookie in week 1. He could probably play LT or more likely at G, which is where he was set to play. The problem of course, is his mammouth injury history.

Whether you like these guys or not neither was considered a 1st round talent by anybody. We need to draft oline no matter because we lack talent overall and we cannot count on Toledo at all because of his injury history.Alabi maybe a keeper but its very suspect that we did not play him much last year. Hope he does well, as for Toledo I hated the pick from day one and some people tryed to justify the pick because Parcells liked him. I have never seen a guy that did so little and was injured so much get so much fuss about. Apparently he is a stud in shorts with no players in front of him.

Toledo has a history of being injured. He also has a history of putting on incredible amounts of good weight in a short amount of time. His body wasn't adjusted to the weight, and that caused injuries. Things should be better now that he's been walking around at playing weight for a year.

You can't count last season's personnel decisions when trying to determine if a player is right for this team, because Saban didn't give justification for the moves he made. We're likely going to see plenty of Alabi this coming year.

I will give you the Saban justification point especially when he had a chance to sit Joey and keep from paying a higher draft choice.

I wonder if Alabi is ready to start, it's been 2 years now. I also think Toledo could fill our hole at guard, perhaps this is why we haven't signed any lineman

Was that before or after he sent Berger to the waiver wire?

Can't understand where in the world you got the impression Saban was indecisive, did he ever find his red flag by the way?

Found this nugget about Toledo in Barry Jackson's column in the Herald.

Word is the Dolphins like guard Joe Toledo and have spoken about giving him a chance to compete for a starting job. . . . Despite signing Joey Porter, the Dolphins made another offer to linebacker Donnie Spragan this week and haven't ruled out re-signing defensive end David Bowens, who continues dialogue with the Jets.

Ready to go the last half of the season? I read a blurb in an article about two months ago (sorry, no link) that said he was seen on crutches and it wasn't football related bc he hadn't been practicing due to his football related injury.

Based on interviews and articles, about all I know about Toledo is that he looks a lot like John Belushi, he used to play tight end in college, his mother is a nutritionist (so he should stay in good shape), and he's had knee injuries.

At training camp last year they said he had good footwork and he's pretty quick for his size. I think I heard him say he likes martial arts too ... that's good for guy in the trenches to know about balance and leverage, etc. A good judo expert/Sumo wrestler on the O-line would be pretty cool. Those Sumo wrestlers know how to push people around. :D

Does all this mean he can be a starter on our O-line? I don't know. We have an O-line black belt master for that named Houck. He'll know if young grasshopper is ready. :D

I get a feeling from Toledo that if started and did not get hurt that he would be dominate at LG. Sorta like the opposite feeling of what Seth Mckinney gave me. Not much logic behind it, I just think Toledo can be a beast.
