It is interesting how a QB can elevate his game by throwing 21-30 times a game. Joey had a QB rating of 96.1 when doing so, with 10% of his passes going for 20+ yards. When a QB throws more than 20 times a game, but less than 31....generally this is the best way to evaluate his play. Just evaluate. in (situational stats)

Just FYI,( on average) Brady last year had a QB rate of 84.0 and McNabb was 85.0

usually, the game is well balanced and a better "situation" to evaluate. My personal feeling is Harrington will improve getting out of an offense designed on a two step drop, quick read sit. He is better situated for a deep three step.

Wait and see what he can do when given some confidence. IMO he has little downside and big upside. just my opinion.

How many games did McNabb throw 20 to 30 times?? The Eagles are the most one dimensional team in the NFL they are like 70/30 pass to run.

I'm excited now that the contingency plan is in place.

Harrington will get a lot of reps through mini camp, training camp and preseason. ( Lemon as well)

I'm glad it is done and he will be in camp June 9-11. It was very important to get a playbook in his hands as soon as possible.

Now we can focus on other areas.

It was a good day.

I totally agree. Great post!!

yeah i rekon harrington is going to really thrive here in miami and he will be a top player for us maybe even better than culpepper who knows

Did anyone watch Total Access last night and see what Tommy Harris said? For those of you who didn't watch Harris said that Harrington was the scape goat in Detroit and that he would do fine here. Harris said there were a lot of issues with the Lions org. the last few years and Harrington wasn't one of the problems, like the he was portrayed. I beleive what Harris had to say because he didn't hesitate to support Joey and blame the Lions.

I believe he will do well cause he is not in a position to be the star and will not have all the pressure on him like he did in detroit. all he has to do is relax and know his place on the team, which it seems like he knows what it is.

Harrington is a back-up. He will never be anything close to what scouts thought he would be.

Is this for his career or last year?a

Harrington needs to start doing a couple things in order to be successful. He has to learn the offense as soon as possible to be comfortable with it. He (like lots of young strong arm guys) needs to realize an incomplete pass and a punt aren't always bad things. He needs to embrace Saban's checkdown system. And for goodness sake, he needs to start going by Joe...Joey is for 11 year olds, hairdressers, and baby kangaroos.

Coming in to be the 'savior' of a franchise is a lot of pressure to put on young shoulders. Only a few can handle it well. I expect to see Joey take a large step forward this year. My hope is he gets to play the first few games (but less than 50% of the snaps so he only costs us a 6th rounder) and does so well in them that we can trade him for a 3rd or even possibly a 2nd round draft pick next year. By then (hopefully) Lemon will be a capable back up and we can draft another young gun to develop.

You think maybe they've said that about people like Kurt Warner, Kerry Collins, Trent Dilfer? Sure, they're not hot shots at the moment, but they all been to the Super Bowl and 2 of the 3 won it all. We don't need JH to be the man for the Fins, just to come in and keep the team going when they need him too.

Just my opinion also, but I think he'll never amount to much. To me, he's the latest Cade McNown, Jim Druckenmiller, etc. Maybe just a notch above those guys. It's never a good sign when you basically have to go fishing for redemptive stats on a guy. Traded for a 6th round pick. That describes him well.

It takes a lot more than a redemptive split or two to make a good NFL quarterback, and it's those other things that I believe Joey doesn't have. He doesn't lead a team well. He doesn't lead the team effectively. He doesn't manage the game. Those are the reasons I think he'll continue to fail.

But, of course I hope I'm wrong.
