Hey Dolphin fans, I have been reading through a lot of threads this evening on the loss today to the Patriots. Yeah, I think it is obvious with my avatar I am a Joey supporter. I have watched him since high school. I actually thought Joey was going to get cooked on this forum after today's game and was pleasantly surprised by the support. Yeah, there will always be critics.

I didn't watch the game because it was not on my feeds here in Colorado but got some great input from a lot of great posters on this forum. I did monitor the game on NFL tracker. Hey, can we cut Joey a break? Look who he had to make his debut as starter for the Dolphins against? The rejuvenated Patriots on the road. He hasn't started since last season but he is a professional and was disappointed hearing about the picks. Sounds like if the Dolphins make half those fg opportunities, take away half the penalties and the last pick...Dolphins could have won this game. Yeah, there are always what ifs in football...lol

It appears Joey will start next week against the Jets just going by Nick Saban's statement that he doesn't want Daunte playing until he is 100% healthy. Any updates on this?

Joey played fairly well. His two picks killed us, along with dropped pass and fumble by Ronnie, the holding that negated our first and goal, the pass interference that setup the Patsies 1st and goal, etc. etc. etc. This game was there for the taking, the Dolphins just never stood up and took it. A disappointing loss because they really should have won this game and would have put themselves right back in the division title hunt.

I agree with some of the assessments that we'd be better off if Joey was the openning day starter. Considering we're 1 - 4. We wouldn't be any worse if Joey had started all the games and Daunte would have been healing for another month instead of getting more banged up.

I don't think it's fair to give up on Daunte as some have suggested, but he needs to get closer to his original form before the injury in order to be more effective.

As for Joey, I think a full week with the starters and another full game, that ought to give us a sense of whether we're going to get anywhere with him. The starters need to get used to him and he needs to get used to them. Can't always get that flowing right in one game, especially in Foxboro. Too bad he couldn't have warmed up against the Bills, Titans, and Texans before being asked to run the gauntlet.

good to see him in there and having a run our kicking units seemed to really stuff up this game but i am all for joey hopefully he gets another run next game and we can win and get on a roll

I think there were 4 defining plays of the game:

1) JH completion to Booker at the 1...negated and brought back by holding by Peele.

2) JH int., led to TD.

3) JH int...thrown to Wes, missed/deflected..landed into Asante's hands.

4) Would have held them but....Allen called for PI in the endzone..Pats ball...1 yard line...another TD.

A couple other plays, such as Mare's missed FG(s) would have tacked on 6 points.

So....that's -7 for #1, +7 for #2 0 for #3 (would have resulted in a punt as it was 3rd and long when..) #4 another +7 for the pats. Total point differential? 21! Add in Mare's 1st missed FG (I'll ignore the 2nd one) and that's 24 pts total that should have been in OUR favor either directly or by limiting the Pats total points! We lost by 10! We should have won by 11! (give or take).

Don't forget Brown's drop and don't forget the Pats sat on the ball at the end so they could have scored more points.

They also played very conservatively on offense and could have opened up the passing game more if they needed to.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. According to my tracker, the Dolphins were inside the Patriot 40 yd line at least 4 times with no points! I couldn't believe on two of those opportunities that the Dolphins punted??? One punt was fumbled by the punter. Unbelievable. Is O'mare having a bad year kicking field goals? Or is Nick Saban so conservative he doesn't want to go for it on 4th down?

Bad field conditions.

Nope. No offense, but I don't expect someone watching NFL tracker to understand what's going on with this offense. Joe had five times more time to throw the ball than Daunte had. He was under no pressure for most of the game. Maybe the Pats' game plan was to let Joe throw and kill himself, who knows? Harrington played well given the circumstances, but not well enough. Give Daunte that protection, please.

I have been a Culpepper supporter, and I still believe he is the better long term QB. Having said that, it is clear that Joey is the better QB now. I assure you that he is going to be prone to interceptions, but the offense moved consistently. Joey got rid of the ball quickly, and the second interception was a miscommunication. Joey should be the starter.

This next game will be his true test.

Revived Pats in NE is a tough game no matter what. In fact you could say Harrington has done better than MAnning ever has.

Next game is when Joey will be labeled the starter. Some backups come in and do well because there is not the pressure of being the teams starter leading up to the week. Just the way it is I guess. Then when they are called the starter they tank.

I think he will do better with a full week of practice with the 1st string. 1 game under his belt and much easier conditions to play in.

I can hardly blame the second pick on Joey. The first pick could have just as easily been a reception as it could of been an interception. Welkers hands were right there. Still a decision I think you have to not make.

But he drove them down and they just kept killing themselves.

2 Missed FGs.
8 OL penalties (I think)
1 Holding that negated 1st and goal at the 2
wide open dropped pass by Brown on 3rd down.
RB Fumble at the start
Punter botched snap.
Chambers non-catch on a big drive.

Really the team outplayed NE. If a team turned the ball over in their territory like the Dolphins did today they should have been blown out.

You can't really believe that can you? The OL played better for Joey? Joey had everything to do with not getting sacked today and moving the offense. If you want to argue overall results I think you would have a good argument. If you want to blame him for the 2 picks and say that cost us the game that is also a legitimate argument. But to say the OL played better for Joey and gave him time to throw is ridiculous. The fact is, Joey got the ball out fast, avoided the sacks and moved the chains.
