Joey Harrington info - 2003

"Has been sacked only 17 times in his 30 NFL games for the lowest sack-per-passing attempt percentage in NFL history (17 sacks/1,000 attempts for 1.70%)"

"Even as a rookie, he was almost impossible to sack," said Simms, a 15-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl XXI MVP. "Sometimes, and I've done a few games he's played, he's dropping back and I want to go, 'Slow down. Hold it just a little longer.' It is a tremendous asset but it also can get you in trouble." -- Phil Simms

At the same time, not making the papers were the complaints of his 2nd and 3rd and 4th reads. He almost never went deep during that period of time, opting to get rid of the ball.

Quick, the side line is OPEN!!!!

cool.. whats his winning percentage in the NFL..?

I usually don't post. I read this board from time to time because I am a UofO and Joey Harrington fan. Someone mentioned, in a discussion about Joey, that he or she was not aware of what he was like in college. So, I thought I would post a reference to a highlight film which includes Joey in college. Take from it what you find has value, if anything. Go to www.coachbellotti.com, click on coachbellotti.com on the opening page, then click on Gameday Experience, and finally click on The Gameday Experience 2001-05. All in all, I think shows his ability to go deep, but more importantly it shows he is a team player and team leader. He was known as "Captain Comeback" because he never gave up and could rally the team in the worst of situations to play beyond themselves to accomplish a win. Of course, for him to do that, it takes like-minded team mates. Thanks for taking the time to read this post and view the gameday experience if you should do so.www.coachbellotti.com

But does Joey ever run? In all the exhibition games and now this regular game, I've yet to see him tot the rock.

This is the hype that the Heisman minded Alumni Association wants you to see.

His weaknesses in that season are totally sanitized by now.

58% completion, 2 1000yd backs, 3 WR with the talent to reach the NFL, Tedford as his QB coach...

The guy was a puppet and a figurehead.

If the 2001 Ducks had a better QB, they wouldn't have lost to Stanford. Captain Comeback had a 42-28 4th quarter lead. Zero points. What happened?

Captain Comeback fumbled the ball trying to kill the clock against a sub .500 OSU team. Defense bailed him out.

Don't let the Duck faithful fool you, Dolphins fans.

If you watch Harrington, you'll see how very fast he is on his drops. It's extremely quick.

Another interesting part: He has never lost a fumble.

And another: His best TD-INT ratio was the year he was sacked the most.

probably because he was more confortable with the rush, didnt panick and just unload the ball like he has done, and didnt just stare down his first read and get rid of it before he needed to. even then, he didnt have a good year.

Or he was told that if he didn't grow a pair and let the play develop that they'd play the #2 guy...
