I'am coming back and I want to know if it's official or not ?
As the Dolphins continue to make progress toward landing a Harrington, they might also be a step closer to losing out on an Arrington.
The Dolphins and Detroit Lions quarterback Joey Harrington are hoping to finish a trade before next week’s draft, since any further hesitation from the Lions could cause the team to hold onto Harrington until just before he is owed his $4 million roster bonus in June.
Landing Harrington would certainly be a big acquisition as the Dolphins hope to have a backup with starting experience to handle the job if Daunte Culpepper’s surgically repaired knee isn’t ready for the season opener.
Here’s the catch: No teams are willing to take over Harrington’s $4 million bonus, which gives Harrington leverage to decide where he goes. But the Lions still have some power, since they could actually hold onto Harrington until June, thwarting the Dolphins’ desire to prepare a backup quarterback for the season’s first game.
Nonetheless, a source said Wednesday the Lions are close to agreeing to a deal, rather than continuing the “game of poker” that has caused the negotiations to stall.
