JH(Miami) -- 59.2%, 11 TD, 13 INT, rating 71.4

Gus Frerotte-52.0%, 18 TD, 13 INT, rating 71.9
AJ Feeley -- 54.8%, 19 TD, 21 INT, rating 67.3
JH(Detroit)- 54.7%, 60 TD, 62 INT, rating 68.1

Joey Harringtons Contract:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2448468
In 2007, he is scheduled to receive a roster bonus of $1 million in the spring. His base salary will be $1.75 million with $750,000 guaranteed. His cap number will be $3.483 million.

In 2008, Harrington would receive a $10 million roster bonus, and a $5 million base salary, placing his cap number at $15.733 million, a prohibitive number. Restructuring the contract, or cutting him is the only way to lower the number.

Why do some of you keep bringing this up?

There was no choice between Harrington or Frerotte.

He didn't want to stay here in a backup role and he clearly wanted to follow Linehan.

Whole topic is such a non issue.

the stats show similiar numbers but the biggest difference was that Frerotte could throw a good deep ball and Harrington limits us to shorter passes. but consider the fact that Frerotte had a good running game which keyed that run at the end of the year

Agreed. It was a poor choice of topics. It is interesting to see that Harrington has very comparable numbers to Frerotte and Feeley the last 2 years.

Harrington has proven more accurate than I anticipated... However, he has too many interceptions.

From the contract, it appears that JH will be here for 1 more year. $15 million is alot of money. Hopefully we will re-sign Cleo(Free Agent) next year.

looking back at it we should have kept Frerotte as a back-up but also looking back we should have taken Brees over Culpepper

I think the best thing to do now is to pick a QB probably Culpepper and draft a QB to groom. ride Culpepper until the younger guy is ready. we should probably cut ties with Harrington or reduce his salary at least

Frerotte said, "I was a backup to Culpepper in Minnesota.... if I have to be a backup, I'd rather play for Linehan in St. Louis."

Here were the choices other than Harrington:

Repost:
"Rank Player Career Rating
1 Chad Penington 92.1
2 Daunte Culpepper 91.5 (Not Free)
3 Jeff Garcia 85.8
4 Drew Brees 84.9

5 David Gerrard 83.9 (Not Free)
6 Jamie Martin (U) - St. Louis 81.9
7 Tim Rattay 81.6
8 Kliff Kingsbury (U) - NY Jets 79.2
***********************************
1,2,3,4 have Injury concerns... You better have a backup with any of these guys.
I'd rank them 1-Culpepper, 2-Brees , 3-Penington, 4-Garcia.
Penington has serious injury concerns, but might be a nice backup to bring in and compete. I'm not a Jeff Garcia fan, but he's statistically a better QB than Frerotte. More mobile as well.
***********************************
5,6,7,8 - The ranking seems fine. No injury concern. Gerrard seems to have the most upside. All seem to be an upgrade over Rosenfels... lets bring in some competition.
You could keep Frerrotte, and target any of these guys as a backup QB. Any of them could probably beat out Frerrotte in Training Camp."

Penington and Gerard would have been interesting choices.

Whats brees injury concern...He hasnt missed a game or a beat all season. His shoulder is also a non issue. Also, Pennington isnt a back-up in this league and could start on any team that needs a QB like an oakland or Detriot. Gerrard also isnt a backup in this league either and wont be after the end of the season...You should replace Gerrard with leftwich on this list becuase Gerrard barring a career ending injury has pretty much stolen Leftwichs job

in the offseason he was a huge injury risk, turned out to be heathly now but he was a big risk and wanted too much money on top of that

Could you have said that at the time of the signing? No. His arm was still in a sling, and he wanted $10 million.

It's easy to predict lottery numbers, after it's been drawn.

No, but this post doesnt seem to be speaking of the time of his signing. It seems the question is being asked of now, not the past (unless I missinterpredited it)...Im over the whole Brees thing. Its in the past so who cares how healthy he is or isnt now. he isnt with us so that is also a non issue

Actually yes, we could have said that at the time of the signing.

Dr. James Andrews, the most renownded Ortho surgeon in sports gave him a sparkling report card and recommended him ready to play to anyone thinking of signing Brees.

It was our staff that decided Culpepper was less of a risk.

If people are going to say "It's just spilt milk why bring it up" I can agree with that.

However, if you're going to make arguments that we had no information that Brees would end up being healthy for this year, that's just false.

Its ridiculous to assume Drew Brees would be putting up the same numbers here as he is in New Orleans right now.. There is no way to know that

There was no chance of getting Garrard anyways. I'm very happy with Harrington as a backup to Culpepper next year.... and also having cleo Lemon with us as well

I'll be happy with Daunte backing up Harrington or Harrington backing up Daunte. Our QB situation may not be great but its decent and allows us to concentrate on other areas

I can see that..... but I think Culpepper has a better arm.... seems as though he has tighter spirals, can throw more effective passing medium and long range than brees in my opinion.
I think the future of this team is very bright with Culpepper becoming more explosive, more time spent with his recievers...and getting Ricky back as well.
