(On if this is vindication to the people who have written him off in the past) - "I told you, if you really watch football, and know football, you would understand it. You're all just pen pushers. All you see is Joey's not good enough. I told you, you get me in a 3-4 defense, 10 sacks is a given. That's what you're supposed to do in a 3-4 defense; as a good outside linebacker. If you're going to consider yourself being good, 10 is just were you're supposed to get. It's not even a big deal like that."

Joey is the best linebacker a team can ask for this year, it was just a matter of time as to when he was going to break loose
 
All due repect to JP...Guy is playing lights out...But, as usual with Joey, his mouth overpursues his brain. If it's such a "Given" that he's going to get 10 sacks in a 3-4 then why is this only the third time in his career he's surpased the 10 sack mark? I'm reasonably sure Pitt played the 3-4, right?
 
He's absolutely right.. everyone who called him a bust last year and said we overpaid for him and this and that doesnt understand player positioning or what happens when you do not play to your players strengths.

yo Goon, why on EARTH do YOU have the right to talk smack on this board but another HUMAN being AKA JOEY PORTER has no RIGHT to talk or stand up for himself? Stop being so HYPOCRITICAL. Dont say its b/c he is an athlete b/c its the principle which is he is a HUMAN!

Funny how noone is comparing him to Adalius Thomas this year.

Last year the Patriots were the geniuses and we overspent. What a difference a year makes :)

:err: What in the heck are you talking about? He has every right to say whatever he pleases. He can say that the earth is flat AFAIC. He stated somthing, and, I challenged the logical validity of it, that's all. He has every right to defend himself to anyone he feels like. I merely think it's comical that he made the specific comment he did. If you can point to any statistical years besides, this year, 2000 and 2005 where he had 10 sacks, I'd be happy to look at it.

I'm curious, oh defender of Joey's honor....Where did I say he didn't have the right to do any specific thing? Here...Do me a favor and look up the meaning of "Hyprocritical", apply it to what he said, juxtaposed with what I said and tell me how how it meets those definitions.

Joey does have 76 sacks in a 10yr career(7.6sacks/yr). Take in to consideration that he probably didn't see the field much his 1st yr. and he was a rookie, that avg. comes to around 8.5. Then you take into consideration that he was with an inept coaching staff last year and he would be averaging 9-10/yr. Those are almost HOF numbers.
