He now has 8 sacks (tied for 13'th in the NFL) to go along with one forced fumble and one PD... 5.5 sacks in the last 4 games, compared to only 2.5 in the first 9 games.

Health was an issue for him earlier in the year and it was reported that he was trying to play even though he wasn't fully healthy..

He could be very important this year in getting us to the playoffs and beyond if we get there.. he has experience and is the leader of our entire defense.

I think he is finally back to 100% as he is producing every game and getting to the QB..

Just a side note he now has career 91 sacks, 50 PD, 24 forced fumbles and 12 interceptions..... he is getting very close to HOF type numbers for an OLB

He is doing a lot better. I knew he would. A lot of people were trashing him throughout the first half of the year but they've STFU now.

"Dolphins OLBer Joey Porter had his practice participation limited for the second straight day due to his troublesome knee"

Negative.

Porter gets benched then

Carolina game....8 tackles and 2 sacks
Buffalo game.....5 tackles and 2.5 sacks
Patriots game....4 tackles and 0 sacks
Jacksonville game...3 tackles and 1 sack

Jason Taylor
Carolina game...0 tackles and 0 sacks
Buffalo game....3 tackles and 1/2 sack
Patriot game.....2 tackles and 0 sacks
Jacksonville game...1 tackle and 0 sacks

Someone has to introduce JT to the bench with his
lack of production the past 4 games...6 tackles in 4 games
is terrible with half of one sack

JT does not play very often on 3rd downs anymore. Usually in obvious pass situations, JT comes out and Wake goes in. So it is more of a lack of opportunities, rather than production decline. As a SOLB, JT faces either a TE and/or a RB as well as a RT to get to the QB in a base formation.

JT is doing good in his role, which is run stopper on the edge. Besides, I think a lot of us like seeing Wake in on passing downs.

I'd like to challenge the assertion that Porter is playing better lately. I don't have enough posts to post his profootballfocus weekly stats, but it's pretty damning if you see them - typical Peezy one week followed by Porter-potty for 4 weeks after that. If the trend continues he's got one more week in the toilet before his big "breakout" next week...

What you say makes sense
but 174 defensive snaps with 6 tackles and half of one sack
and 4 QB pressures in 4 games
call it what you will

In the Carolina game he had 52 snaps with 0 tackles and 0 sacks...then his snap count was reduced a bit

I don't admit he is not lighting it up, but the SOLB is one of the most unglamorous positions in a 3-4 and also one of the hardest (aside from NT). His job is to seal the edge and allow the ILBs to roam and make the tackles. Beside, JT is plkaying out of position and is doing it quite well if you ask me.

Keep JT in on 1st and 2nd downs, bring in Wake on 3rd downs and late in games. Sounds like a good strategy to me.

Expected nothing different. Porter had a knee and hamstring injury and it showed. Now that he's healthy he's playing very well. Of course you had the typical FH "Cut him he sucks" rhetoric, but that seems to have dwindled. Granted he sucks at the run, but he has his whole career, so why expect any different now.

My opinion from watching him play is like this.

All i see him do is push on the o line and not even move them. He doesnt try any moves to get around or anything. The times he gets a sack is when the qb runs towards him.

Most of his sacks this season have been coverage sacks - particularly on occasions where the QB gets flushed out to his side. Very rarely have we seen him blow right past the tackle like he did at times in the first half of last season
