"teddy Ginn jr is going to give Miami better field position!"
"Lorenzo booker is going to be a perfect change of pace back!"
"Trent greens arrival is imminent if the Dolphins want to make the playoffs!"

In 2005 the Miami dolphins had a great offensive coordinator. The Miami dolphins had head against wall smashing Gus Ferotte at the helm, playing quarterback. the Miami dolphins had Chris chambers dominating defenses at all different wide receiver spots. the Miami dolphins had a very talented linebacker system, staring Zach Thomas, Channing crowder, junior Seau, and often standing Jason Taylor. that year the Miami dolphins had the late great Ricky Williams sharing carries with rookie Ronnie brown. That year the Miami dolphins were only 1 game out of playoff contention.

In 2006 the Miami dolphins lost that coordinator. lost Ricky Williams to a suspension year round. lost the different sets set up for Chris Chambers. lost the great Gus Ferotte to the rams for an injured Dante Culpepper to step in. that same year was led by no other than joey "get this ball out of my hands quick, before i get hit" Harrington. there was nothing good to take out of last season. for gods sake, we lost our gm/ head coach nick saban. the savior that never intended to save. But there is some good that gained.

Jason Taylor, becoming less predictable, wins the defensive mvp. Zach Thomas has more tackle than ever at the loving age of 33. Channing Crowder becomes a named to be wreckened with. Ronnie Brown takes over the running back slot with force (at week 13 we were in playoff contention, and ronnie goes down for 3 weeks. no longer in playoff contention!). The emegence of Yeremiah Bell! top 2 defense during last part of season (stats prove it!)

What the Miami dolphins didn't have that they had when they were the 2005 surprise was, a system qb, Change of pace back, no junior Seau, no sets designed for chambers, no explosiveness. Now I am going to tell you why they are better now than in the past 7 years.

The Miami dolphins haven't had a great return man ever. at least no one that compares to Ted Ginn jr. that right there is at least 10 more yards of field position each time our offense comes onto the field.

the Miami dolphins, as said by cam Cameron, are having Chris chambers play the x receiver. Chris Chambers, like it or not, is a number 2 receiver. he belongs at the number 2 slot. He makes huge plays, and he makes dumb plays thats the player he is. He is too small, not sure handed enough, not fast enough to be an elite receiver day in and out. Great number 2, mediocre number 1.

Ronnie Brown, like most great running back, will explode onto the seen in year three. He will get the carries for once, because we wont be so deep in our own side of the 50 that we need big yardage. Cam gave ladanian alot of carries last year as well, which coming out of college ronnie was compared to ladanian. 15 touchdowns at least this season, along with 1350-1500 yards.

Trent Green, like Gus Ferotte, will come in to be our system quarterback.

Now, here is where the key to this team comes into play.

When was the last time the Miami dolphins had a big mouth, leader like joey porter? Never!! Joey Porter will Create fumbles, interceptions, sacks, and loss of gains not only himself but for the rest of the dolphins defense, as well. The last time the Miami dolphins had someone to compliment Jason Taylor, Adewale Ogunleye, they were the most feared team in the league. Don't get me wrong Adewale is awesome, but comes to no comparison to joey porter.

Miami will make the playoffs, in my bold opinion, because of our Great Defense, Explosive offense that creates big plays with key positions (ie running back, reciever, tight end), great field position, and a kicker that can actually kick.

Thank God, for the steelers releasing joey porter. A blessing truely created by god himself!

well porter needs to quit beating down bengals in vegas. Since the hanging judge rodger godell has laid the hammer down we might be without porter for the first few games. He pleaded guilty to assult and battery charges and was fined a grand. I just hope he can avoid the hammer from above because if you havent noticed godell isnt playing around he means business.

The "great" Gus Frerotte? You almost lost me there.

Moving Chambers from the "Z" to the "X" does not mean he's the #2 WR. It's about moving him away from the crowded side of the field.

The last big mouth leader the Dolphins had was Bryan Cox.

The key to the Dolphins success will be the offensive line coming together and the play of the QB, whomever that might be.

And if Joey Porter regresses into a $20 mil backup?

our offensive line is better now than 3 years ago. more talent!

Chambers is getting out of number 1 reciever slot, where he would be double teamed on a consent basis.

bryan cox, wasnt as big of a leader as joey porter. How many superbowls did bryan win?

and the gus ferotte comment, was a nice bit of sarcasm!

1. Trent Green is not a Dolphin
2. Ginn has not played a down in the NFL
3. Brown is not a "great" running back, LT is!
4. Miami was NEVER in playoff contention
5. Miami ranked next to last in explosive plays (i.e. >20yards)
6. A big mouth like Porter's doesnt make tackles or recover fumbles, but
it does cost you Unsportsmanlike penalties
7. Miami will be 9-7 at best

Playoffs???!!! Playoffs???

the line is better, but also young and needs to gel. there will be growing pains.

chambers is always the great unknown. great in 03 and 05, not so good in 04 and 06.

bryan cox has exactly as many super bowl rings as porter. one.

Our line may have more talent but everyone who was here last year are playing in a different position this year.

The X or Z has little to do with being a number 1 or 2 receiver. It's about where they line up.

Cox was just as much a leader on the field as Porter and did win a Super Bowl with the Patriots.

Yea, calling Gus great is definitely sarcasm.

Not so good in '04? Maybe, but he did set a then career high in receptions and catches of 40 yards or more despite missing one game and playing on the second worse offense the Dolphins have had this decade.

This statement alone proves that you don't know as much as you think you do. Porter didn't have any unsportsmanlike or personal fouls penalties called against him last year. Why didn't he? Because he knows those types of penalties hurts the team.

Joey Porter is one of two LBs in NFL history with 60 sacks and 10 interceptions for his career. Add in his 18 forced fumbles and you have a big mouth that makes plays.

You nailed it. Porter is nice addition to your defense. But I think the money would have been spent better elsewhere. Did your defense honestly keep you from winning games? Was it your defense's fault that the Fins can within a last minute td from getting shut out in 2 games by a very average Bills defense?

As a Bills fan, people say we overpaid for Dockery and Walker. Maybe we did overpay, but the Bills are addressing a weakness and at the most important unit in football with a 26 and 27 year old. We got a young, promising QB and are building an offense around him.

Personally, I think the Fins should start Beck (26 ain't old in reality but it's really old to start a NFL career) and take their lumps. Throwing draft picks at QBs that don't last 3 years isn't the way to build a team. But then again, I'm just a stupid Bills fan and what do I know? :bighug:

I somewhat agree with about the money we spent on Porter but what he adds to the defense can be priceless. He is a definite upgrade over what we had at that position and his playmaking abilities could create a shorter field for the offense to operate. Porter's leadership qualities could make him the most valuable player on the team.

I do think you overpaid for Dockery and Walker and given our cap space, there was no way we were going to pay that much money for them. The fact that the Bills did address an area of need is commendable but with the players we brought in at a much lower price should be an improvement over what we had last year.

Start Beck? You would like that wouldn't you? :goof:

The like GeForce said is obviously our QB position and how well are OLine starts out of the gates. I firmly believe that if we can get "average" QB play from any QB on our roster we can go 7-9, 8-8. I believe our defense is that good. We went 6-10 last year with extremely poor QB play. When we went on our little run we got average QB play. If we get that I think we've shown that we can win some games.

Joey Porter is nice and he's a great addition, but he won't make or break this team. I firmly believe that Cameron believes this team can win now.....if we have productive (i.e. good) play from our QB. I really believe it when he says we're trying to win now.

While John Beck may be 26 now, he could wait 2 years on the bench start at age 28 and be a very good starter in this league for 8 years....which in my estimation is pretty nice and you have plenty of time to build around a guy who can be good for 8+ plus years. I still don't believe in overspending on the OLine. I think the OLine and DLine are the two main areas you draft every year. I think the Patriots have shown what a good recipe for success that is. Overpaying like that for Dockery wasn't necessary IMO.
