Joey Porter may be having a falling out of favor with the brass.

He sits at 14.5 sacks for the season and if he stays healthy it appears to
be a forgone conclusion he will register 20 or more sacks.

Joey is 31 years old and his birthday is in March.

Joey is always being mentioned in the DPOTY banter.

What could we get for Joey if they decide they don't want to put up
him next year???

atleast a 2nd round pick. Late first would be great but i dont see it happening.

this team needs all the linebackers it can get right now. I believe they will continue to stockpile them and in time it will be a position of strength, but for now they should hang on to him.

We need to keep Joey. I fully understood trading JT, but Joey is a perfect fit here. He's got a few good years left in him and I say we take each one.

Just cause he didn't listen to Sparano in one very heated game doesn't mean he's trade fodder. I really don't think there is anyone better we could get for him at the moment anyways and with some many other positions we need to fill in the offseason it's probably best we stick with him.

people are making way to much out of that thing at the end of the game... sparano will handle it internally and all will be well in the world... things happen, its a high emotion game, porter will be disciplined in whatever way is necessary, he will be apologetic and the team will move on...

we're not gonna trade him because his emotions got the best of him for a small amount of time in one tough, physical game...

Nothing more needs to be said

Irrelevant. You do not disrespect your head coach in the way that he did Sunday. I don't care. You guys can talk about depth at the linebacker position, or the fact that he's easily the best player on defense this season. It's all completely irrelevant. You do not do what Joey Porter did Sunday in any profession no matter how smart and talented you may be. Some of you tend to put athletes up on this pedastal like they're untouchable and above the team as if the rules do not apply

Sparano is no pushover and Porter will be dealt with by Sparano properly. I guarantee that Parcells had a say about this is well. If any of you think that Parcells didn't take notice, then you obviously do not know Bill Parcells.

Joey Porter gets no slack for this. If a kicker or backup player does this exact same thing, he's going to get the exact same punishment in this situation. Porter will get no special treatment. I understand that emotions run high etc., etc., but the play was dead when the penalty was called on Porter. It's inexcusable.

If I'm Sparano I'm suspending Porter for at least one game and if I'm Parcells, I'm trading him mouthy *** during the off-season for whatever I can get. I'll deal him for a biscuit and a map.

U need to calm down, sorry to tell u this but he IS different from a kicker or backup player . . . he is the leader of our defense . . . and this was a high level intensity game, playoff like . . . alot of crap was being dished out. U don't suspend your DPOY nominee in the thick of a playoff race because the emotions were running high in that type of game. That is plain idiotic. U sit him down and talk to him, u handle it internally . . . and u go out on Sunday and kick St. Louis' ***.

porter is an emotional guy... that emotion helps inspire our defense, hes our leader because of that emotion... but there is a downfall to that, there always is with these high emotion guys, sometimes it gets too much, and it gets the better of them...

you do know that kinda stuff happens in games right? a coach trying to sub a player out but they'll wave the person they're gonna bring in back to the sidelines... sometimes a player might land wrong, start limping a bit, but they dont want to leave the field... coach might try to get them out, but they want to walk it off... they wave their replacement away and stay in the game, they dont want to come off, they want to fight through it, they want to play and help their team, etc... that kinda **** happens, this is not like the most disrespectful thing a player has ever done...

its not right, he should have listened to the coach... but he didn't, and he should be disciplined, and im sure Sparano will take care of it... but some people are making way to big a deal out of it...

Well, I'm thankful for having Parcells in charge and not you. Throw away a player because of one momentary lapse of judgement? Good call. Let me know when you start getting offers for a GM position. That's good business sense right there.....:rolleyes2:

Amen to that. Do people not realize how emotional the Patriots game was for our players? Joey got a little heated, lets trade him away!! :rolleyes2:

Alright but I won't be one bit surprised if he's suspended a game. Then again, I won't be surprised if he isn't. Calm down? I'm sick of this guy's crap. He's been at it for too long.

Don't get this confused. I love Joey Porter on the field. Dude is a straight beast. But his mouth has to go. It's ridiculous and there's no place for it in my opinion. Shut up, and play football. You cannot publicly show up your coach in the manner that Porter did. That's insubordination. The NFL is a business first at a sport second. I don't know what kind of careers that some of you guys have and what not but this stuff doesn't stand up in any big boy work environment. People are lucky to be suspended for this type of behavior.

I agree with sitting him down and talking to him but this is Joey Porter you're talking about. He's not the kind of person you can get thru to. People have been trying to do it for years and you just can't shut the guy up. He likes to talk. He's actually better at talking than he is at playing and that's saying something.

As far as trading Porter, absolutely. This guy is having a career year at the age of 31. It's a buyer's market. As we say in the stock trading business, you gotta buy low and sell high. This is the perfect time to sell Joey's stock. We have the absolute best player evalu in Bill Parcells and a coach molded after his philosophies. It would be no problem to find a cheaper player to replace Porter and make strong contributions to the defense immediately.
