Dolphins | J. Porter bulks up to 260 pounds
Sun, 15 Jun 2008 21:46:38 -0700
Barry Jackson, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins LB Joey Porter has bulked up slightly to 260 pounds this offseason and he's "a little bit more explosive," according to head coach Tony Sparano. Sparano added, "Physically, I've seen him come an awful long way [this offseason]. He wasn't afraid to say, `Coach me and tell me how to get better.' I like where he is."

Sounds promising. Thoughts?

i hope he goes back to playing for us the way he played in Pittsburgh!!!

Porter sounds a lot more mature this season.

I wouldn't say more mature i would say he's more humble more than anything. If you think about it he came from a winning organization to a team that went 1-15. He probably wants to win more than anything and he's taking it on himself to be a difference maker on defense. When he's playing well and making plays the defense is going to be playing well and making plays because as he's shown in the past his teamates feed of his intensity and energy.

Sounds like the "Parcells way" is contagious 'cause these players are having no problems adjusting to this training regimen.

If you read the Herald article about Porter has no excuses, he seems fired up. Could he become the face of this Defense/Franchise? He states he is happy and determined to show everyone he has gas left in the tank. Him returning to form, showing maturity and work ethic would go a long way to achieving that IMO.

Joey Porter was coming of an injury last year. That's not easy. Now he's healthy and feeling good. It's obvious the combination of new administration and new players has energized Porter.

Porter i dont think gets recognized as much a team player as he should get. I watched every game and he showed a lot of heart every game for a losing team.

I'm still waiting for "somebody" to chime in with "Joey Porter would have had 106 tackles and 18 sacks last year if John Beck was not on the team!"

my thoughts are that this thread reminds me of one about aj feeley a few years back.......during the offseason , someone posted that aj feeley put on about 15 pounds of muscle due to a new training method.......then somone chimed in that aj feeley would be a pro bowler for the dolphins........

:goodpost:

I think if he is used properly he can still be a dominant linebacker. He really came around at the end of last season. I'm ready for him to give da boot to brady!!!
