Joey the man?

well remember, he had 5 dropped passes and many other factors to why we lost, and the one to chambers just bounced right off of his hands into the air

Howdy all... Lions fan here from getting-way-too-cold-way-too-quick Michigan.

Did anyone listen to Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio this morning? It struck me as humorous when Mike Greenberg commented that Harrington would've been much better if not for all the dropped passes.

I found this funny because we've been saying this same thing for years in Michigan... "if not for the dropped passes, we would've won!"

The Lions went through receiver after receiver after receiver... and everyone seemed to have a case of the dropsies. Even guys who were notied for having good hands suddenly seemed to develop alligator arms in Detroit.

Now, I always thought that Harrington got a bum deal in Detroit. Especially under Mariucci who seemed dead set AGAINST him, and let other players publicly call out Harrington. It was a bad situation for him, and one of the major reasons he wanted a trade even with a new staff coming in. He just never felt that the current players on Detroit would give him a fair shot.

Personally, I'd like to see Harrington do well, I think the fact that the Dolphin players seemed to be dropping a lot of balls while the Lions seem to not have as many might be an indicator that this won't happen. I've never played organized Football myself and so obviously never been a QB other than "backyard" ball, but it seems to me that if you change receivers repeatedly and even change teams and the drops follow the QB, then the problem is the QB, not the receivers.

soooo it is joey's fault that the recievers drop passes that hit them in the hands and/or chest....that seems a bit strange...i thought the recievers are suppose to catch the balls not the qb:shakeno:

I generally agree... if it hits the hands, then the receiver needs to bring it in.

That said, what do you account the dropsies that follow Harrington around to, if not something the QB is doing wrong?

Logic would seem to say that if the ball is there, than the QB has done his job. But how do you account for the fact that numerous different receivers with the Lions all had problems with dropping balls thrown by Harrington? And now that his is gone our receivers are doing much better? And now the dolphins are running into problems with dropped balls?

i think we had the same problem last year and u r right lions r doing sooo much better in catching....i wonder then if the promblem is how fast he throw it maybe ppl r still shocked about it....but no way will i blame joey for the drops...yes it is strange that it happen like that but not joeys fault...HITS YOUR HANDS GOT TO CATCH IT plain and simple

Welcome to the boards Red, I understand what you're saying, but if Joey hits the receiver in the hands, its all on the receiver to catch the damn thing, no way around that. If it happened in Detroit too, then that just means your receivers suck as much as ours do, that's all.

certain QBs can have different spins, trajectories, angles, etc on the ball... i think WRs need to adjust to different QBs sometimes... but a lot of the drops we had were just drops... some could have been thrown better like the one to mcmike in the endzone... but for the most part we had some bad drops...
