Imagine if Joey had the starting wr's. Its funny 1 play i heard Joey lunched 1 downfield and while the ball was in the air the wr stopped running. lol Joey needs to be with our good wr's

I like joey, i think he will be an excellent back up to pep. I also think he's been playing good in the last two games.

Harrington has played well so far but hes playing 2nd and 3rd string defense.

Joeys playing really good. I never would have said this before, but I hope he doesn't start to out play Culpepper. Flips right I would like to see him with the starters.

not true, Against Jax he scored a TD against there 1st string,
and in this game his first drive was vs there first string I think.

Flip Side.

On the flip side. While Joey is going against 2nd and third string defenses he is also doing it with the 2nd and 3rd team offense. So while its easy to say he was against the 2nd team D, its not like he was rolling with the first team offense during these times.

just be cautious....joey usually had good preseasons with the lions also.

Joey is way to sketchy right now, I will be extremely worried if culpepper goes down. He has awful happy feet and ball taps like crazy, and look how many times he dumps it off to the RB. I also saw that play where the reciever didnt run.

I am a Lions fan who has watched almost every game Joey played the past 4 seasons, and out of curiousity I have watched him play in your first two pre-season games. I have to give you folks some info and perspective.

First of all, Joey can make some excellent throws. We wouldn't have wasted four years with him if he couldn't. His talent sometimes can be tantalizing because when he gets time to throw, his arm can look very, very good and he can make some very difficult throws.

And here's some good news for you -- you can already tell that he has more of a pocket from which to throw on this Dolphins offense than he ever had in Detroit. Also, your offensive scheme is probably better suited to Joey -- he can throw downfield more to more reliable receivers. He should do better with you guys if he has to play.

But here's the problem and you're seeing it without noticing it too much these first two games (because he has made some great throws already in pre-season) -- Joey's inconsistent and he misses easy throws on key third and medium situations often. Against the Jags, go back and check that second series when it was third and four or five -- he flat out missed an easy throw to the receiver in the flat (he threw it behind a receiver who had a step and literally into the CB's hands). Yesterday against the Bucs, on the play before the play where they criticized Rusell for not running hard enough, another dolphin receiver had his man beat one on one deep to the endzone and Joey badly overthrew the ball, missing a great TD opportunity.

This is the kind of thing we lived with over and over. Joey makes beautiful throws when you think, goddamn, if he can make that throw he must be a top tier guy. But it's all the missed throws that add up during an entire game when you see that your offense is stalling, especially at the other team's 35 or 40 yard line, that critical last ten yards where you get into scoring position.

Two other issues to be aware of -- he's usually great at the end of first halfs -- the defense plays a little prevent and he relaxes and moves the team down. He doesn't usually come through with the TD at the end of the games, but he often gets a drive at the end of the first half.

Second, he gets too nervous and panics in the face of the blitz, something he usually doesn't have to deal with too much in pre-season, so he always looks great in pre-season. He's rarely ever been strong against a tough defense. Of his 15 or so wins in 50 some odd starts, three were against the Cardinals at home. I liked Joey in a lot of ways, but you have to pay attention to those missed throws that kill drives and his happy feet with a tough defense, before you get too excited.

Just my opinion, but i think Joey is playing pretty good. And i don't think we will miss a beat if Joey has to play this season. I said it months back when we got Joey that he is a really good quarterback, and just like the commentators said when Joey was in the west coast offense everything was on his shoulders Its not like that anymore and I believe Joey will excell. So far in the pre-season games he is playing really good.

Really thanks for the info. Sometimes when a player goes to a new team with a different offensive they can excell. I know Joey didn't do much in Detroit, but to be honest and not demeaning the Lions didn't have much of a team these past few seasons.I think Joey will excell with the Dolphins if he ever gets the chance to play and that i hope doesn't happen. Only because that would mean something has happen to Culpepper....

i dont want to crash any hopes but it is pre-season lets not get our hopes too high.

I think he looks 10 times better than in Detroit,if Rader hadnt dropped that pass joey wouldve had another TD
