Isn't John Abraham going to be free this offseason if so I say we get that guy instead of Julian Peterson 'cause it would make the {edit} Jets have to replace him and try to block him and JT.

Mod edit: Please don't circumvent the profanity filter by spelling words with alternate characters.

Exactly... only thing is, Peterson is going to cost some big bucks. He's a premier LB when he's healthy but he's been nursing some injuries lately.

I would take Abraham in a second. I don't know if he leaves New York though. If he does and doesn't come here, may he go to the NFC never to be heard from again, or at least once every couple of years. :p

Yeah but Abraham will be a huge chunk of change to

So with the choice of one or the other both being huge contracts Id take Peterson based on needs

I suspect he would be playing LB much like Taylor does now. We are pretty much using the 34 defense 60-70% of the time.

They don't even really play the same position. Abraham is more to be compared with Taylor or McGinest, while I feel a good comparison for Peterson would be Vrabel. Peterson isn't just a glorified defensive end, is the issue here. He's a strong side linebacker, and he covers, tackles and he's good in pass rush. He can't pass rush from a down position like Taylor can or Abraham can. He can blitz, though.

Who was that guy that played for the Steelers a long time then went to the Panthers...linebacker, white guy, I forget his name tho. He was a lot like that. Maybe Lawrence Taylor is a good comparison as well...because he was really a linebacker not a defensive end.

Abraham and Taylor and McGinest they are all just glorified DEs that have been dressed up like linebackers...it's really effective, I'm just sayin

How do you think Roth would fit into that position, instead of being just a d/e?
Shoot, beat me too it.

If Saban believes Abraham can be an effective OLB in his system would definately prefer him over Peterson. However, I hope neither are signed at the big long term contract they'll get because both will be 28 next year and have missed a lot of time (Abraham 11 games over 3 years and Peterson 14 games over 2 years).

LOL, I don't think he would. Did you see Roth when he caught that interception and tried to run it back? He's powerful, but sloooooow. A lot of people talked about how he played LB in college at one point and maybe that made him a hybrid here in Miami in this D...but one thing they failed to account for was that he sucked as a linebacker, and that's why they moved him to DE, lol.
