Last year, everyone was comparing John Beck to Drew Brees. I'm certain it had to do with the Cam Cameron connection, but nevertheless, the comparison was made by fans and media alike.

It's funny how Drew Brees turned out, despite a couple unproductive couple of years in the league right out of college. He is now considered one of the best QB's in the league.

John Beck has a rough rookie year, and everyone rights him off. People fail to learn from history and history will again repeat itself. Look back a few years. Drew Brees finally has a good year, but gets injured. San Diego decides to trade him for the "QB of the future" and Brees goes on to have a much better career (so far) than the guy who replaced him. People NEVER appreciate what they have until it is gone.

And so it will be (I fear) with John Beck. I think John will have a very good year this year, but it will not be enough to satisfy far too many ignorant fin fans, or even possibly the FO because he is not "their" guy. Because of a good year, he will become trade bait. His new value will be too tempting to not take advantage of, given the fact that Henne is the "real QB of the future". Beck will be traded, only to become a star elsewhere. Karma dictates that he will most likely come back to haunt the Fin's at some point in the future by pulling out a great win to keep the Fins out of the playoffs yet again.

Don't get me wrong, Henne may be the next Phillip Rivers, but he is no Drew Brees. John Beck is the real deal. Mark my words.

Its fine to compate Beck to Brees but he also could be the next Ryan Leaf.At this point the only similarity is round drafted.

the only comparisons in this whole thread is the round Brees and Henne and Beck were at,and the height and aroudn the same weight....thats it....this whole,Beck will be the next Brees and he'd be traded thing is rather odd, because while its all well and fine that Bress is one of the best QB's in the league today, and thats true, but a great QB doesnt make the team a contender, much less a SB(Super Bowl) team...you coudl bring in Manning(Peyton) or Brady or Carson Palmer....hellyou can bring in Drew Brees and they wouldnt suceed with the talent we currently have on this team...people put way to much emphasis on QB's...yeah,they are the most important position(next to Kickers and Punters) but you sure as hell have the surrounding cast for your "great QB" to actually be "great"...or otherwise your just wasting your time....

lets all calm down, cam cameron did say he saw drew brees in becker, but there are also a lot of differences. Drew Brees came into the league 22 years old and had his break out year when he was about 25. He grew up a lot in those three years. John Beck is going to be 27 when this season starts with only one year of experience.... how much more room does he have to grow up? i just hope we find a qb in henne or becker, but ill let it be proven on the field not cause john beck might be drew brees

Well Cameron has never chosen a qb in the NFL before so who knows

Thank you! I agree with you 100%:hi5:

dude i have no bias between the two, im sure he had a hand in drafting rivers, and the rumor is he was the deciding vote on henne or flacco.... TBD. I just want a friggin qb so we dont go into every season talking about this junk and talk about a less stressful position, like Safety or Fullback

This message was brought to you by the.....

Next time you try to scold non believers and validate your opinion, you might want to at least have the facts straight.

When Beck gains the poise or confidence of Brees then comparisons can be made.

So to summarize..
Becks true colors will shine through, forcing Henne and McCown to the shadows, and revealing a potential, the calibur of Brees.

Sparano however, along with hoards of pitchfork wielding, naysaying dolphans, will refute this ability, campaign to trade Beck, and in a hasty deal, motivated by absolute arrogance, we're left with a losing tomato can for a QB, and Beck returning to punk us for the last playoff spot?

Good story, but until Beck turns anything besides bright red, it gets indexed under fantasy/fiction.

Let's hope one of our QB's steps up this year, it is the number one position holding the Dolphins back. I do have a honest question about Beck though......

Why did Cleo Lemon (a 3rd string NFL QB at best) look so much better than Beck last year with the exact same supporting cast?

Players can improve so there's still a chance for Beck (or McCown) to earn the job this but the fact that he was outperformed so obviously by a marginal player is concerning.

I also think everyone would best served to quit comparing our QBs to other NFL players, they've done nothing in the NFL to warrant these comparisons. Everyone seems to go back to college stats to back their arguments and if that holds true, Colt Brennan is the best QB in the NFL today.

Cleo Lemon was horrible. He never looked so much better then Beck. Beck may have fumbled more but Lemon made up for it by running out of bounds at the 1 yard line on 4th down rather then stretching for the TD.

Lemon was ,in no way, "so much better" then Beck.

I am not saying Beck is great or looked it. But you can't use Lemon as a basis for good play
