Check this out from his Freshman year:

The ball travels at leat 75 yards on this one.

In terms of Beck vs. Quinn, I've though all along that Quinn was WAY overrated. Not saying Beck is better or not ... time will tell. But no way is Quinn $20M better than Beck.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with John. One thing you would have no way of knowing if you don't follow BYU is that the guy made it through some serious hard tiems at BYU. Losing seasons, coaching change, program in turmoil, etc. Kept his cool through all of it and proved he's a fighter. A couple of other very highly touted QB's in the system caved under the pressure, causing Beck to have to start prematurely as a Freshman.

You got yourselves a goood QB.

I haven't read anywhere that someone said he has a weak arm.

I just keep hearing his 26...didn't Trent Green peaked at 28 or so?

So what hes 26, so he has only 12 good years left in him instead of 14 and we will have to draft another QB in 2015, oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Lots of scouting reports and opinions of 'experts' posted today, to rip the beck over quinn selection, questioned his arm strength. One even said he didn't have good escapability but the clip they aired of him showed me he did. Also one clip where he checked off two receivers then threw to a third was good too.

who cares he's 25? He's just a bit older but then he didn't play for those 3 years so his body didn't get beat up either.

jdang307, you'll be happy with Beck. We used to have another QB that was as smart as Beck, but he never had the same arm. Detmer could have been great in the NFL if he could have been able to throw the darn ball, but Beck is pretty smart and I don't think he's going to disappoint fin fans.

From what I've heard from John Clayton of ESPN, many analysts/scouts across the league consider Beck to be the sleeper of the draft QBs...Let's hope that their assessment is correct and Cam saw something he really liked and valued.

Green peaked at 32 - 34. Beck is a good pick. We have to wait to see how everything turns out. What I really like is that according to scouting reports, he anticipates windows opening,w hich is rare for a college QB. I could care less for Brady Quinn.

I never heard that he has a weak arm...... dude has a cannon

It's far from a cannon, everything I've seen says it's above average at best. I just find it hard to get excited about a short, 26 year old rookie when the best QB in the draft fell in our lap. :shakeno:

Very seldom do qb's still play well after 36 and it may take himuntil he is 30 to start if then.

I hate this pick...I absolutely hate it, with Trent Edwards still on the board we picked up a QB very little people were even talking about......he's 26, he may not start for a couple of years. He probably wont be a solid starter until he's 30, if he is then. For god sake he played for BYU.......the WAC conference is not that tough!

Yeah, we should of traded down to get Edwards, who was taken a round after Beck. But if we would of taken Edwards in the second, wouldnt that be a stretch??? :shakeno:

how is that a stretch? Did you not pay any attention to this draft? Quinn was projected to go top 5, he went 22nd. Qb's were not very popular in the draft this year. Which for us...blows my mind, but Trent Edwards was one of the top 5 qbs in the draft, arguably right there with Kolb...a 26 yr old rookie is a stretch.
