So this guy is outcasted right now, but he still has talent. I don't think he is better than Chad Henne and he should be the starter in 2+ years..
Beck still has trade value, even though he was a steal when drafted at #40 in 07, his stock has slipped drastically because of his 2007 season.
You always want 3 solid QB's, so should we keep him or trade him? He learned the system when competing in training camp.. He still has something to prove.. I'd love to get a draft pick for him, but i'd rather keep him around if we're only offered a 6th rounder. I don't know when his contract is up, tho i'd imagine next season would be the last..

What will happen to Beck this offseason?
I'd like him to stay if the cap warrants it...

I don't think that there is anything wrong in keeping Beck and having him develop as Henne's backup. There is no rule that I know of that says you can't develop two young QB's at the same time. One guy to be the future, and another guy to be the backup to the future franchise QB.

yeah, Beck would have to take a paycut, but at least he'd have a job.. He is still young and has great arm talent...
I'd love to see a 4 year, 2 million$ contract :)...
1/2 a million per year ain't a bad gig Johnny, you should take it.

i think sparano and co. have shown they will play who THEY think is best for the team. Now i really believe that if beck out performs henne in preseason and training camp he would start the guy he felt was doing better and gave us the best chance to win. They dont care who drafted each player, they want WINS.

I don't see anyway that he will leap-frog Henne.

He looks like a great 3rd stringer or back-up though. They should give him a pay cut and keep him. He MUST have gotten better this year watching Pennington up close and under the new no-nonsense coaching staff.

If Pennington gets injured and Henne go down as well, god forbid it would be great to have someone with this much familiarity with the offense & team.

Then again if Pennington manages to win a play-off game and continues to look & play so impressively in the offseason I could easily see him as trade-bait. You don't really need 3 QBz...

A lot of the major draft experts and publications said that Beck was a strong #2 QB, nothing more. Obviously we all bought into the QB guru philosophy that Cam Cameron brought, which worked with Brees, Rivers, and now Flacco. Eventually, Pennington's going to leave, why not let Beck stick around and backup Henne? I don't believe a team would be foolish enough to trade a pick for a 28 year old, unproven QB, but obviously Beck renegotiating would be nice.

I don't quite understand this mentality going around. Pennington has been superb this year, and easily has about five years left in the tank. We'd be nuts to let him go - give him the big contract and keep him around. We've gone far too long without a QB of this caliber, to just let him leave camp. I'm not buying into this Henne crap - if it ain't broke, why fix it?

Really? That's not what I remember. Infact Ron Jawarski said Beck had the best arm and was most ready to be a starter in the NFL from the 07 draft because of the throws he was making in college. Beck was given his only chance with a 1-15 team, hardly fair to draw any conclusions from that. As for this past off season, Beck was the most accurate in camp, constantly. He has a live arm and is smart. However as we've seen already with TS he has "his guy's" that does make a difference in the decisions on who plays. Is it possible Henne is better than Beck? Sure it is, but Henne wasn't drafted by Cameron, big advantage.

as long as he's not too expensive(and I don't think he will be), keep him. the longer he sits, the better he'll be. and I'm not completely convinced that he's a bust yet.
