How does everyone feel about the supposed future at QB for the dolphins being 26 when the season starts?

It's really a non issue. If we get 10 great years out of him then it doesn't matter. Maybe we wind up losing 3 years at the end of his career?

I don't find it to be a big deal at all, we'll still get a good 8-10 years out of him if all goes according to plan and he pans out like Cam thinks and we all hope.

Look around, most NFL QBs have their greatest success in their mid to late thirties. Elway, Rich Gannon, Trent Green, et al. If Beck sits for a year then plays ten years for us... do the math.

at this point in the nfl, what QB stays with the same team for 10 whole years of his career anyway?

Look, every one of these QBs has about 3-4 years to prove themselves. Now, if Beck fails in those 3-4 years, then he'll be gone and no one cares how old he is. You can say the same about Brady quinn who's a few years younger than Beck. If he succeeds in those 3-4 years, then he will be 29/30, and baring injury, should have an 8-10 year career for us as our starter, so what more can you ask for?

i have a good feeling he will work out great, and the offense will be a very good one with the new personal, just need a little time to gel, lets be positive. as far as his age look at it as more mature

not an isssue at all. He had other thing he did and is a very mature person which should help him on the field.

He's a short term project, almost ready to start, unlike others in this draft that will need more time to improve their skills.
So if we can start him during 2008 it will mean 7-8 years of cool production.
Sounds great to me.

Uhhh.... the good ones?? I'm not comparing Beck to any current starters, but the QBs that will be with their team until retirement are the good ones: Manning, Brady and Palmer come to mind.

A better question would have been at this point in the nfl, what good QB becomes available? It was EXTREMELY rare for QBs with Brees and Culpepper's skills to be available last year. Both had injuries that most likely created their availability.

No offense to you younger gentlemen. Beck's age is an advantage he has more life experience. He has solid character.(not that Quinn doesn't). A 22 year old and 26 year old dont usually see the world the same way. With age comes wisdom, and they only way to get it is to live. Quinn has the potential to get caught up in the celebrity of being a professional athlete. Last week alone he was on every talk show that would take him. Beck seems like a guy that will put on his hard hat and go to work. I think he is better mentally prepared to suceed early. Will Quinn eventually be the better qb ? I guess we'll see.
