John Clayton: Dolphins face Gauntlet

Oh yeah, John! We can't help our schedule. Just like you can't help your appearance! I love how he hides a Matt Ryan love piece within this "story" about our schedule. Apparently, Ryan has a better chance than Drew Brees of winning the tough games next season because of his QB prowess. Please.

Our schedule is tough on paper before the season starts, but, that's no garuntee that it will be in reality.

Well everyone in our division has a much tougher schedule this year so it all pretty much evens out. we could have a worse record and still be contending for the division title.

only problem that I have with the article is this part:

as the benefits of the playing the easier schedule as they ascend disappear the next season. For instance, the Dolphins' first-place finish forces them to play the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Diego Chargers this season, two other AFC first-place teams.

I don't know when any reporter is going to get this.....we did NOT benefit from a last place schedule last year...and we can do no worse in our first place schedule games this year, than our 0-2 in last place games last year. We got to play the Ravens and Texans, and were 0-2 in those games...how did that wind up benefiting us? It didn't.

Yes but I would still say that there is a better chance of it being a hard schedule than it being easy.

Agreed

While you really can't predict how good each team will be next year, it would take a near miracle for it to wind up any easier than what we got last year with the AFC West and NFC West.

wtf.. i love how they put a glorious picture of Ryan throwing his arms in the air and then just stick a picture of Chad scratching his a*s looking like a moron on the sideline. Unnecessary, typical Dolphin degrading.

I dont mind the tougher schedule this year. Lets be realistic, we are not close to being "superbowl ready" I would say we are 3-5 starters and 5-8 backups away from it.

Can we make the playoffs? sure. But honestly i dont expect it.

I would like to use this year to get Henne ready. Hopefully give a rookie CB time to settle into a role, not just as a starter but as a game changer. Hopefully at the same time grooming another CB to replace Will Allen the following season (YAAAY) or drafting another next offseason.

Hopefully settle our OLB situation and at the same time find our passrush not including Porter.

Maybe see if our OL is for real and if not find the wholes that need filling for the next offseason.

Find our #1 reciever either this year or next offseason.

If we can accomplish this and use this year as a spring board forward then the 2010 season will be our official lets reach the superbowl season. All holds barred not excuses.

It will still be an exciting year to watch as it will be like our foreplay before the 2010 gasm.

This is John Clayton from his early television career. He was a frequent guest on "The Flintstones". Some say his best work on that series was the football episode when Fred "Twinkletoes" Flintstone was repeatedly thrashed by a team of giants.

Remember last year when we supposedly had a really tough schedule? Yeah, thought so.

Actually, the younger crowd around here is probably more familiar with him from his role on South Park:

After we beat all of those teams, our schedule strength will actually be pretty weak.
