Thinking about the situation the dolphins are in right now and the only thing that comes to mind is john gruden and the way he took over the bucs and turned them into superbowl champs. Tony dungy could not do it and u know what, dungy reminds me alot of sparano for some odd reason. Dungy had a team full of talent but just could not get over the hump and win. John gruden could, why? because gruden strives for perfection and if u mess up, he calls u out and tells it like it is, if u cant get the job done he will find someone who can. Unlike sparano who just sugar coats everything, "i think nolan carroll played really good", really tony?

Check for yourselfs and tell me u dont want this guy on our sidelines http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG1Sa9kgSQ4

Gruden is on the sidelines yelling at his team "dont give them nothing" when his team is clearly dominating, this guy is a HOF coach and exactly what we need. The players like sparano but does he really get the best of his players day in and day out? on gameday does he get the best of them? Players are lost out there on that field against the texans, offensive line not focus, cornerbacks dont know where to be, 12 man on the field both in the patriots game and in the texans game. Sparano is the only team in the afc east to not get 1 win and imo that says it all, we have more talent than the bills, and jets why is it we cant come up with 1 win and the jets and bills are undefeated right now? I have now idea but il tell u one thing, we got problems that sparano doesnt know what to do based on his press conference today, it was like watching a lost dog who doesnt know what to bark or say. He just said whatever needed to be said to get threw the press conference.

Gruden will turn this franchise around, theres too much talent on this team to not be winning. We cant wait til next year, too much talent on this team that will go to waste. We need change now ross......

Not a bad option but don't fool yourself - he did not build them into that team - but he did take them over the top. And what did he do after that? He has like a 90-80 win-loss record - so he is no savior!

Better than Sparano - yes! Better that Coach Chin...probably not!

dungy could not win it all with the team but gruden could, imo that says it all. Gruden has qualities that dungy and sparano dont have. Ppl are so quick to throw jabs at gruden because it was "dungys" team he took over but who cares? he got the job done, dungy didnt, period.

Given the options out there, he might be the best fit, but I still don't think it will amount to much with him in charge. Gruden's teams in Tampa got worse as Dungy's defense was no longer Dungy's defense... He has NEVER groomed a young QB into anything other than backup and has never won anything without a geriatric QB at the helm...

Forgive me, but that doesn't exactly fill me with unbridled excitement...

However, after surveying the field of available potential head coaches, I really don't know what better options we have.

I don't want Cowher. He will just bring us back to the drab power running game that has proven inneffective. He and Sparano are essentially the same coach, but Cowher had the benefit of great talented evaluators, supportive owners and a stable franchise...

they got worse and won a superbowl? in that case we might as well hire tony dungy lol.

I remember at the end of his time in Tampa many of his players lost respect for him. If I remember correctly he said some stuff that didn't sit well with some of his players. He just seems to have that type of personality that gets under your skin. That doesn't sit well with grown men who make a ton of money and have huge ego's.

Dude, he won the Super Bowl the FIRST year, WITH Dungy's defense... Against his FORMER team, who he knew ALL the plays they would run. He got extremely fortunate that first year. Ya, he got them over the hump, but he was handed a championship team from the get-go... After that, it was all downhill. By the time they were just HIS team, the team sucked...

good, thats exactly what we need, someone who isnt scared to tell it like it is. A coach with some balls is what we need, period.

ask yourself this question, why did they hire gruden in the first place? because the guy will bring you a superbowl. Tampa could not win without him and he could not win without tampa, the 2 went hand in hand for a reason.

Agree, I remember many of his personnel decisions were head-scratchers. Didn't he sign a bunch of washed up older vets?

So you think he can win with Miami? Now?

No thanks to gruden, people around the league say he does not take the draft seriously and he lost respect from his players, he would rather have cowher bring his guys in!

The guy who took his team to the super bowl with Tony's players? The one who couldn't even give his team the best success possible to win? Pretty funny how Morris is with a Tampa team built from scratch and is already doing better than he ever did.

No but he did build Oakland into a powerhouse, until Al Davis had one of his annual fits and tore a winning team down
