John Gruden is our man.

Jon Gruden is a mad man maniac Chucky Doll look alike. The players in Oakland wanted to have a hit put on the Man and he basically inherited the team he did in Tampa. Gruden is good for about 2 years, then when the player revolt starts to happen he is canned. So, what good is that going to do Miami. They would have to start all over again in about 3 years when all the players want to shoot Gruden in the head.

give me a break, put a hit out the man because why? because gruden doesnt put with the bull**** sparano does? exactly the type of coach this teams need.

Way to dodge the argument, if yiu want to focus on what Gruden did in on year then you have to look at his whole tenure.
Guess what? He sucked, he ruined that team.

if 3 division championships is ruining that team. then i guess sparano better get his *** busy and start ****ing some **** up around here!!!!

ignore the fact that the REASON the glazers went out and got him when they did was BECAUSE the window on that defense WAS CLOSING and they hadnt accomplished anything. ignore the fact that they gave away NOT ONE, but TWO DRAFTS to get him. ingnore the fact he STILL won 2 division crowns with a depleted roster AFTER doing EXACTLY what he was brought into do.

ignore the fact he did it in ONE YEAR. and ignore the fact this regime had 4 YEARS to built it from the ground up and still fails miserably.

get your facts straight if ur gonna run your zipper. or at least base your opinions on FACTS please. and not this fantasy island bull**** you guys seem to come up with

So, who was the GM while Gruden was in Tampa? Was Gruden choosing all the crap QB's that went through there?

Bill Callahan had a lot to do with turning the old age guys into caring again also. He too after a few years was said to be hated by the players.

listen man i got news same thing happened with jimmy johnson in dallas. but had jimmy stayed they would have won 4 straight if not more. players want a guy thats gonna drive them deep down. but they are gonna ***** about being pushed. ok? just how it goes. ask those cowboys what they think of johnson now!!! i guarantee u he has their ETERNAL GRATITUDE for what happened. and ill bet u anything they dont say - we could have won more rings. and wonder what would have been if jimmy had stayed.

another thing thing is when you get veterans that have been coached by several coaches and they have been in the league awhile they formulate their own opinions and attitudes about the way things should be run. and ANY coach thats tough on them at all they are going to rebel a little. in addition any other noise u hear coming out of those lockerrooms is generally reserved for the fringe players or guys that think they are more than they are. so be real here. what gruden did with both the raiders and the bucs is even more impressive.

well last i checked jeff garcia wasnt a crap qb. but please explain to me how exactly do u go about finding a franchise qb with no draft picks anyways?

last i checked teams generally hold onto those guys.

I remember at the end of his time in Tampa many of his players lost respect for him. If I remember correctly he said some stuff that didn't sit well with some of his players. He just seems to have that type of personality that gets under your skin. That doesn't sit well with grown men who make a ton of money and have huge ego's.

funny i lived in tampa and didnt hear this

Check it out, for the people who say gruden drove that team into the ground need to read that article. The bucs were in salary cap trouble before got there and had no money to sign other players after they won the superbowl and also sign replacement players for the ones whos contract expired, why do u think they were such a powerful team? alot money was put into the team, along with tannenbaum telling bill parcells not to accept the tampa job for this reason alone. This team had a bad future ahead of itself but gruden had no choice but to accept the job because it was a trade. With all this said, the bucs also gave up 2 first round draft picks, and another 2 2nd round draft picks in both the upcoming seasons. Imo that says it all, this team was in trouble before gruden got there and is exactly the reason the bucs owners made the huge trade to get gruden, they knew it was there last year. If anyone isnt convinved gruden isnt our man, they just dont understand or care to understand what happens with tampa and the raiders, john gruden is a great head coach and is what the miami dolphins need to turn this franchise around.

during a USO tour in July 2009. Gruden (left) allowed a serviceman to wear his Super Bowl ring for this picture.

After compiling a 40–28 win-loss record (including playoffs) in four seasons with the Raiders, Gruden replaced the fired Tony Dungy as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, via a high-stakes trade that included Tampa Bay's 2002 and 2003 first-round draft picks, 2002 and 2004 second-round draft picks, and $8 million in cash. The trade took place for a number of reasons, including Davis' desire for a more vertical passing attack rather than Gruden's horizontal pass attack, the fact that Gruden's contract would expire a year after the trade, and Davis' uncertainty over whether Gruden was worth as much money as his next contract was sure to pay him. Gruden signed a five-year contract with the Buccaneers worth $17.5 million.[SUP][1][/SUP]
The Bucs' search had taken more than two months, and had proven to be a major embarrassment to the Buccaneer organization. Tampa Bay had expressed an interest in Gruden, but Davis had originally refused to release him from his contract. The team subsequently interviewed several other coaches and believed a deal was in place with Bill Parcells, before Parcells backed out, reportedly because his choice for General Manager, Mike Tannenbaum, told him not to accept the job because of the salary cap difficulties that Tampa Bay was about to endure. With the franchise's search floundering, the coach they wanted having only one year remaining on his deal, and the immediate hire of Dungy by the Indianapolis Colts, many fans and sports commentators began to openly question if the Bucs had made the right move by dismissing Dungy. Only a big splash hire could quiet the storm, and this may have been the primary motivation for the Bucs to give up as much as they did to acquire Gruden.
Immediately after arriving in Tampa, Gruden significantly retooled the offense with the addition of numerous free agents. His determination to fix the under-performing offense so often maligned during Dungy's tenure inspired the Bucs defense to another #1 ranking, which helped the team to a 12–4 season and a win over Gruden's old team in Super Bowl XXXVII. Despite the Super Bowl win, there were many, including players on the Buccaneers like Warren Sapp, who attributed Gruden's win primarily to the defense that coach Tony Dungy and defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin had created during Dungy's tenure with the Bucs. Gruden publicly and graciously thanked Dungy for his contributions upon accepting the Lombardi Trophy at the Super Bowl XXXVII postgame ceremony.

His mantra for the 2002 season was "Pound the Rock", a reference to never giving up. Gruden even went as far as to display a large chunk of granite in the locker room, a tactic mimicked by the Jacksonville Jaguars. (Their slogan, "Keep choppin' wood", was tainted when punter Chris Hanson injured his leg on an axe brought in to accompany a large log.) Upon returning to Tampa after winning Super Bowl XXXVII, he led a capacity crowd at Raymond James Stadium in chanting the phrase. However, it seemingly disappeared from the lexicon the following year, and was not aggressively marketed or displayed on stadium video boards.
In the two years following Gruden's Super Bowl win, the Bucs went 7–9 and 5–11 respectively, implying to many Dungy supporters that Gruden had simply taken over a strong team and then driven it into the ground. However, the high draft picks sacrificed by the team to acquire Gruden, along with salary-cap issues and failed draft choices forced upon him by the now-departed Rich McKay (with whom Gruden had a bitter relationship) limited Gruden's ability to field the teams he wanted after that successful Super Bowl-winning season. With no emerging talent in the fold and no money to afford replacements, the team was decimated by injuries to many of the Super Bowl stars, including Joe Jurevicius, Mike Alstott, Greg Spires, Shelton Quarles, Ken Dilger and Brian Kelly, as well as acrimony with highly-paid veterans such as Sapp, Keyshawn Johnson and Keenan McCardell.

lol.. suddenly the actions gone stale in this thread. lol and now were onto completely new threads about rob ryan as our head coach LMAO. guess everybody that wanted to ignore the facts cant do it anymore. and what did i say about warren sapp in another thread?? prior to this post?? i lived in tampa. this article relayed that imformation beautifully. exactly what ive been saying. and like i said i wouldnt put too much stock into what warran sapp had to say anyways. he thinks too much of himself and loves to hear himself talk. john lynch should be the sounding board. hes the guy that had the respect in the locker room, and in the community. sapps an idiot anyways. of course he thought the defense won everything - hes too egotistical to NOT think that. in fact im sure he thinks he was the only member of that defense that could play. fact is the offense is what won games for tampa in the playoffs. and the defense could never make the team more than just simply good before gruden arrived

My point still stands... Gruden has not developed a SINGLE young QB... Unless you want to count Favre, but I don't know what extent he aided in grooming Favre.

That's why I wouldn't touch Gruden with a 50 foot pole.

dungy could not win it all with the team but gruden could, imo that says it all. Gruden has qualities that dungy and sparano dont have. Ppl are so quick to throw jabs at gruden because it was "dungys" team he took over but who cares? he got the job done, dungy didnt, period.
Dungy got the job done with the Colts just fine

because of heresay? ok good point. lets continue to ignore facts. lets get somebody in here that will stroke professional football players egos and coddle them while hes at it. cause that approach always works and they need more of that right? lmao. maybe he can stroke their ****s too while hes at it???

what a joke. WAKE UP MAN

lol, dude, the guy won a championship with brad johnson, if that doesnt convince u i dont know what will. Meaning he could probably make the best out of henne and take us far. Henne is being put in a tough situation right now, we are going with this "pass first" offense when henne clearly cannot keep up with the expectations because he just isnt good enough. Henne needs to be put in the same type offense mark sanchez is in to succeed. The run game will take alot of his hands and the redzones throws wont be so needed cause he will have run support. How many bad throws did henne make yesterday, how many poiints did he leave out onto the field? ALOT. Im telling you, sparano doesnt know how to run a team based on a player strengths and weaknesses, thats why john gruden, sean payton, bill cowher are so great, they use talent the right way. Just look at the situation with reggie bush man, the guy didnt even see the field yesterday, sparano is clueless. Doesnt know how to use reggie the right way and also in the process didnt even give the guy a fair shake at being the "featured back" they promised. Gruden will neutralize all the bs that is going on here and set this ship the right way, he doesnt know how not to succeed, but keep hating, his resume speaks for itself. If u ask me, gruden resume is better than bill cowher, bowher had 15 years to win a super bowl, if you look at it another way gruden really would have won 2 superbowl with 2 different franchinses had it not been at the wrong time when that trade happened. It took cowher 15 years where gruden came in and installed an offense in 1 year who got it done in tampa and dungys "defense" only helped sealed the deal.
