John Gruden is our man.

saban clone? what the hell has saban done in the nfl level to be compared to john gruden? try again.

dont worry defensive end here just like making things up obviously, cause im certain he had a pulse of that locker room and happens to have mike alsott, keenan mccardell, joe jurevicious, warren sapp et al on speed dial. im sure they clued him in on what they thought about gruden.

and im sure they are pissed he got them their ring also.

maybe he was the team psychiatrist? cause clearly the results dont speak for themselves.

quite the opposite of this ridiculous conjecture that players thought he was a chiwawa or whatever other bs we can come up with. gruden is a good choice BECAUSE he could last here. BECAUSE of that.

the media would stfu about all their clowning about the organization - the didnt do it when bill was here did they?? all gruden has to do is give them the finger and say RING *****!!!!! and they stfu!!! u think that doesnt matter??????? IT DOES. gruden would bring credability in the locker room and his message would be received long enough to get this thing turned around before players start to doubt the message (see sparano circa end of last year to current)

gruden has the POTENTIAL to be a guy that could build a dynasty in miami like very few head coaches do in their cities...guys like tomlin, mccarthy, peyton, belicheck very few guys. we would be LUCKY to have gruden. and it would be a very good situation for him to come back to the NFL. the key is Ross

dungy could not win it all with the team but gruden could, imo that says it all. Gruden has qualities that dungy and sparano dont have. Ppl are so quick to throw jabs at gruden because it was "dungys" team he took over but who cares? he got the job done, dungy didnt, period.
Gruden couldn't take the Raiders to the super bowl, the year after he left Bill Callahan did...should we hire Bill Callahan?

Gruden ruined the Bucs. He's a good coach but a worse personnel man. Giving him control of personnel decisions, which he will undoubtably ask for to be the next head coach, will keep us stuck in the mud. He won't right the ship.

I am unsure how I feel about Gruden although that pouty angry look he has is funny!
Bill Cowher should return to football, I think I would take him first!!

I would opt for the other Ryan brother. Players would leave it all on the field for him and his defenses are not to be taken lightly.
Plus it would escalate the Jet/Dolphin rivalry to new heights.

When a team is 1-11 in it's last 12 home games and opens the season on prime time and gets embarassed the problem is a coaching problem-Sparano has to go and Henne is best as a back-up- he's not starter material- the sooner the better- I'll take Gruden or Cowher but what about Fisher - he's also available- instead Ross goes and courts Harbaugh who hasn't done squat instead of making a serious offer to guys that have proven themselves. The whole organization has become a joke.

well i think a couple factors, in Ross's defense, with harbaugh were the looming lockout, the fact Ross thinks highly of ireland as a personal guy, lagging ticket sales, and his own familiarity with ownership or lack there of. so there were some factors here in ross's defense. and harbaugh was a very good choice. hes going to be a good coach. for many of the same things that make gruden a good coach. plus harbaugh has won as a quarteback in the NFL and taken two terrible college programs and turned them into winners and in stanfords case (against all odds) into a powerhouse in college football - and its not just luck (andrew) he dveloped NFL talent in college. including his two quarterbacks Josh Johnson and Luck.

Ross made a good move going for harbaugh. it didnt work out. but this offseason hes going to have to pony up. and that will become abundantly clear very soon to him if it hasnt already.

look for cowher or gruden to be the next head coach of the miami dolphins. id put the odds at 80%. and if that New York job does become available look for gruden to be our next head coach

man get your **** straight if you want to make a case then use FACTS dude. have some insight. WHY is it that way? your "FACTS" are incorrect and therefore your opinion is misguided. sorry

I think it was that Monday night game against the Patriots, where Gruden said something like, the Dolphins need to find a way to win and to get back to that great tradition, this is a great franchise. Somehow, the players take on the personalities of the Coach. We've been through Jimmy Johnson, Dave Wannstedt, Nick Saban, Cam Cameron, Parcells/Sparano and now Tony Sparano. That being said, this Coach needs to turn things around quickly. I hope we can turn it around, and we need a little luck here and there. Not to get off topic, but for those who saw how the Eagles suffered quickly by losing Vick against the Falcons, how the Eagles team looked completely different with out him. We need this sort of player, someone who can keep those important plays alive and avoid kicking field goals. Someone needs to step up. We lost to 2 very good teams, so these next 2 games will be a good barometer how much character this team and coaching staff has.

Isn't it great how many well-informed people post here? Cowher is one thing, Rob Ryan being the new flavor of the week cause he's Rex's brother but fatter, is just stupid.

What did John Gruden do that was so great? He inherited a good team just like many college coaches do.

John Gruden over rated and a QB killer.

well thats what were dealing with here bro. a dolphins forum is one thing. what i REALLY love is when i hear it in the media with some of these guys that are supposed to "know". like all the sanchez love? ridiculous. the romo hate? ridiculous. he dropped a snap. he ****ed up. hes not a holder - hes a qb. do these guys watch that dude play??? ID LOVE to have romo!! that dude can ball!! is he the best in the game? no. hes so talented tho. and this argument against him is so garbage - there just isnt enough information with this guy to base those decisions on. same thing with sanchez - he plays like hot garbage for 2 years and is protected both in the media by his coach and in that offense by many factors and he makes some throws to one of the most clutch receivers in the game and the guy makes plays for him and sanchez is a HERO! hes not even a GOOD quarterback YET. he may become one. but the media and fans opinion of him has to date been incorrect and unwarranted.

Tell me where my facts are wrong in my post.

Fact: Bill Callahan took the Raiders to the super bowl when Jon Gruden could not.

Fact: After winning the super bowl with the Bucs the Bucs got progressively worse under Gruden.
2002 Bucs 12-4 super bowl champs
2003 Bucs 7-9 no post season
2004 Bucs 5-11 no post season
2005 Bucs 11-5 lost first round of playoffs
2006 Bucs 4-12 no post season
2007 Bucs 9-7 lost first round of playoffs
2008 Bucs 9-7 no post season...fired.
overall record with the Bucs...57 - 55...take away that first season with Dungy's team and it looks even less impressive.

Fact: Gruden's last year with the Bucs they had the rights to 6 QBs...5 of which were on the roster in the preseason, it was a laughable situation. He finished his last season with the Bucs by losing the last 4 games of the season.

He can never love his players — especially his quarterback. Jon always wants new, even when new is not necessarily better. He was instrumental in returning the Raiders to their glory days with the help of some key players, notably Rich Gannon, then went off to Tampa to have all the power and ability to run his own show. That’s where his downfall started.

Jon’s inability to truly “Love You, Bro” prevents him from being successful. He does not want to fall in love with any one player, and he is very hard on the players.

I once referred to Gruden as the Larry Brown of the NFL. I meant that as a compliment because I love Brown, but when Brown, the well-traveled NBA coach, has control of the personnel on a team, he makes horrible decisions and hates the players he coaches. He wants new, but after new is over, he wants more new. Does that sound familiar?

john gruden is soft. i remeber one time he was telling keyshawn johnson what he did wrong on a play, and then when keyshawn got in his face and gruden put his tail between his legs and ran off. what little respect he had from the players was probably lost at that point.

are u nuts?

ok so we have a gruden, a cowher and a ryan.

anyone else?

this is the part i love. the part where everyone knows everything...until the moment arrives...and then the reaction begins all over again.

I think the best thing would be to wait until season over and find out a leader type who runs an offense or defense that is new and shows their moxy. who that is i dont know, but ussually, thats where you get your mike tomlins.
