John Gruden is our man.

Dude, he won the Super Bowl the FIRST year, WITH Dungy's defense... Against his FORMER team, who he knew ALL the plays they would run. He got extremely fortunate that first year. Ya, he got them over the hump, but he was handed a championship team from the get-go... After that, it was all downhill. By the time they were just HIS team, the team sucked...
Well, if you don't give Gruden credit for the Bucs...the guy won at Oakland...that's damn near the best coaching performance of the last 20 years.

Tell me where my facts are wrong in my post.

Fact: Bill Callahan took the Raiders to the super bowl when Jon Gruden could not.

Fact: After winning the super bowl with the Bucs the Bucs got progressively worse under Gruden.
2002 Bucs 12-4 super bowl champs
2003 Bucs 7-9 no post season
2004 Bucs 5-11 no post season
2005 Bucs 11-5 lost first round of playoffs
2006 Bucs 4-12 no post season
2007 Bucs 9-7 lost first round of playoffs
2008 Bucs 9-7 no post season...fired.
overall record with the Bucs...57 - 55...take away that first season with Dungy's team and it looks even less impressive.

Fact: Gruden's last year with the Bucs they had the rights to 6 QBs...5 of which were on the roster in the preseason, it was a laughable situation. He finished his last season with the Bucs by losing the last 4 games of the season.

perception and reality dude. GET REAL.

u SAY they got progressively worse. THE FACTS ARE they didnt get PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. and worse than WHAT??? a SUPER BOWL TITLE?????? ANYTHING LESS THAN ANOTHER TITLE IS WORSE. give me a break.

another poster DETAILED the circumstances regarding jon grudens head coaching position in tampa. ive talked about it in my posts already. clearly you want to IGNORE FACTS in favor of conjecture. the fact is he didnt get PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. they won 2 division titles with a depleted roster that had NOTHING to do with gruden but EVERYTHING to do with the reason WHY PARCELLS didnt go to begin with. aging defense. lack of draft picks. no franchise QB. so the **** what if he had 6 quarterbacks!!! he didnt have a franchise guy!!! isnt that OUR PROBLEM IN MIAMI IN THE PAST?????????? we were willing to go with status quo?????

FACT IS GRUDEN WASNT!!! HE WAS CLEARLY LOOKING. wanted ONE guy to simply perform. he wasnt satisfied. does that make him a bad coach? NO it makes him more intelligent than all these idiots weve had around here. and wasnt one of those guys jake plummer? who wanted to retire? gruden i believe wanted to try to lure him out of retirement. is that a bad thing?? oh no he had 6 quarterbacks. oh no. great article by an idiot that made no sense. and you are basing your FACTS off of conjecture? AND making statements to back up your opinion that he "was progressively worse" thats not a fact its a LIE. and u can clearly look above and see that. and somehow you are choosing to ignore the circumstance and the hand he was dealt.

the FACTS are gruden accomplished a hell of alot in tampa, and he did it despite being handicapped by a lack of draft picks, poor contracts, salary cap, and no franchise qb!

blame him for looking for a quarterback with no draft picks to obtain one if you want, im sorry, as far as im concerned i dont think gruden OWED it to any of those guys to simply hand them the job. and since none have gone on to have successful careers i would say he didnt have too many tools in the toolbox and SHOULD have been looking. im sorry that ONE guys ridiculous opinion that gruden should be "nice" and hand the starting quarterback job of an NFL franchise to a SCRUB is shared by you. but its garbage. and so is your argument against gruden.

nothing here for you. move on.

The facts are Gruden didn't produce. Since taking Dungy's team
to the show, Gruden had exactly TWO playoff chances, and, went
0-2. Also a fact is A hair above .500.

Gruden slipped into narcissism after the SB, and that was the end of
him.

wow way to spin goon! FACT belicheck has failed to produce. after winning i cant even count how many superbowls. he just has failed to produce! guy just cant get it done. LMFAO. make some sense man

FACT: JON GRUDEN HAS WON A SUPERBOWL AS AN NFL HEAD COACH.

i like gruden, but u think he owes that superbowl win to monte kiffin, warren sapp, derrick brooks, etc

i like gruden, but u think he owes that superbowl win to monte kiffin, warren sapp, derrick brooks, etc

really? why is it with those guys already in place that ownership decided after years and years of failing to get it done, that they decided to mortgage their future and bring in gruden?

and THEN they got it done?

He will never win another or come close.

based on WHAT??? seriously dude get real. the dudes young. hes already at 15 on the list of alltime playoff victories as a head coach IN THE HISTORY of the NFL. get real people. and of those 15. hes 9th in all-time winning percentage in the postseason at 5-4 a .556 winning percentage in the postseason.

that means in THE HISTORY of the NFL. this coaches postseason success ALREADY ranks among the top 10 arguably that have ever coached the game. thats BASED ON FACT PEOPLE.

get real. wake the **** up

Gruden couldn't take the Raiders to the super bowl, the year after he left Bill Callahan did...should we hire Bill Callahan?

Gruden ruined the Bucs. He's a good coach but a worse personnel man. Giving him control of personnel decisions, which he will undoubtably ask for to be the next head coach, will keep us stuck in the mud. He won't right the ship.

Voice of reason!! Thank you!!

Great argument.

i dont know whats up with these guys. trolls? dont know. people you want to make a case for the guy u think should be the guy? do it. but stop the nonsense. stop the insanity. i have not seen one single credible, logical argument against gruden. NOT ONE. most of the **** people are saying doesnt even make sense or its contradicted by FACT. unreal. make a case man.

didnt even know who would make sense for head coach here to be honest cause i cant talk to all these guys. im just being honest. but i CAN tell you one thing. i was pretty certain tony sparano WAS NOT the guy pretty early on. then i second guessed myself with that first season. but honestly right from the beginning i said who is gonna follow this troll? listening to his press conferences, and then his game management was AWFUL right from the start. and i said - well hell get it corrected. and he never did. the guys approach to the game is not one of a winner. when bill parcells left last year i was concerned about the wheels falling off. not because i think hes great. but because i thought it put tony on an island too soon in his career. he didnt have enough success to fall back on and say. hey my way works - and he had made too many questionable decisions, to not question the guy. to wonder does this guy even know how to win? those players questioned those things. it started last year with brandon marshall. continued in the offseason with ricky williams, then backed up by jason taylor. THEN taylor makes the same revelation THIS year ALREADY. this team doesnt buy it man. the guy doesnt have enough credibility. he NEVER DID.

that absolutely DOES NOT APPLY FOR GRUDEN. the more and more i look at. there really isnt anybody out there that could even possibly make as much sense.

the guy develops quarterbacks and HE KNOWS HOW. thats HUGE.
the guy has won it all. thats HUGE
hes a winner. hes passionate. hes young. he OBVIOUSLY will get people talking. thats HUGE for this organization
love him or hate him DOESNT MATTER. people WILL TALK and thats EVEN BETTER. MIAMI WILL BECOME RELEVANT UNDER GRUDEN. thats HUGE.
the media wont be talking **** about the dolphins if gruden is head coach! and thats HUGE. BECAUSE when we lose a couple games in row guys in that locker room wont begin to question things. they wont start questioning themselves (see taylors comments). they will look to gruden. and hell have answers.

guys this IS A WIN. there is not a more qualified guy out there and its truthfully not even close (yes cowher warrants discussion). and yes there are coaches out there that COULD get it done. but the path to success for them would be more difficult that it would be for gruden. why do we want to limit our success? or our odds of succeeding???

its like the difference between kicking a 55 yard field goal and a 35 yard field goal. YES both could miss. YES both could go through the uprights. BUT given the choice - why in the hell wouldnt you WANT to kick the 35 yard field goal with the game on the line INSTEAD of the 55 yarder???

gruden brings instant credibility to a team, to a locker room, to a fan base, through the media for a team that desperately needs it.

path of least resistance here. why make a decision that has a smaller probability of success unless your name is tony sparano??

jon gruden is the guy

cant help the hopeless jon

john gruden is soft. i remeber one time he was telling keyshawn johnson what he did wrong on a play, and then when keyshawn got in his face and gruden put his tail between his legs and ran off. what little respect he had from the players was probably lost at that point.

Yep. I remember that. Gruden lost his team.

Yep. I remember that. Gruden lost his team.

im sorry i missed you in the team photo. which guy were you again?

so u know how that conversation went? dont think it went too well for keyshawn did it? u think perhaps maybe gruden just didnt want to say something he was going to regret?? u think gruden would back down to that dude? u nuts???

and clearly keyshawn was still elite elite right? (as if he ever was) because the rest of his career mirrored that greatness??? throw me the damn ball? how about make some plays? u dont think any head coach that has a player that puts himself above the team is gonna be happy about it? be real
