Fact: Bill Callahan took the Raiders to the super bowl when Jon Gruden could not.

Fact: After winning the super bowl with the Bucs the Bucs got progressively worse under Gruden.

2002 Bucs 12-4 super bowl champs
2003 Bucs 7-9 no post season
2004 Bucs 5-11 no post season
2005 Bucs 11-5 lost first round of playoffs
2006 Bucs 4-12 no post season
2007 Bucs 9-7 lost first round of playoffs
2008 Bucs 9-7 no post season...fired.
overall record with the Bucs...57 - 55...take away that first season with Dungy's team and it looks even less impressive.

Fact: Gruden's last year with the Bucs they had the rights to 6 QBs...5 of which were on the roster in the preseason, it was a laughable situation. He finished his last season with the Bucs by losing the last 4 games of the season.

Thank you for stating something that no one here knows. Half of the posts here are posted without any logical thought, or any relevance to the truth. First thing you said is the same exact thing that came up to my mind. Gruden took Dungy's team to the Super Bowl, and failed miserably to do anything afterwards. I would assume that people shouldn't have to look for these records if they are true fans of the game. This is as known as the sun being out in the daylight.

hey hey easy there. posting something that makes sense is NOT allowed in this thread obviously. i just love the "well he didnt build tampa" argument. which is garbage anyways. i guess in this thread the most important position on the field doesnt count - because it doesnt back up their argument. brad johnson wasnt tony dungys QB folks. im sorry tampa wasnt winning super bowls before he arrived. and even if u HAD a case, which u DONT, it makes no sense. this isnt madden. it takes more than players to win a super bowl. it takes understanding how to make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. but evidently thats too difficult for some people to understand. i know we gotta do basic math around here.

but heres your basic math - and it COMPLETELY debunks your entire garbage argument. if gruden didnt build tampa, and tampa was SO GOOD, why didnt they win a super bowl BEFORE he arrived? and IF it was somebody else (which it wasnt) and gruden cant put a team together then WHY was the raiders team he did put together in the super bowl as his opponent????????????????

well, it just so happens I'm a Bucs fan first and foremost. Gruden brought in Keenan McCardell, Joe Jurevicius, Brad Johnson, and Michael Pittman...All key contributors to the SB...obviously he didn't mess with the defense, why would he?

thank u!! been saying it all along. and not only were all those guys HUGE contributors, but mccardell and jurevicius were huge in that lockerroom - they had a lot of respect, and brad johnson played like a super bowl QB down the stretch. clearly the team needed help! yet this was "dungys" team. laughable. last time i checked u dont win a game with 11 players, and the quarterback is the most important player on the entire team.

ive been trying bro to bring to logic here to some of these debates. its tough. what ur saying is essentially what ive been saying the whole time. at least im making A CASE for my guy (and he wasnt my guy before this started). as this has gone on, ive come to realize how much sense gruden really does make, and how many ingredients he actually does possess. not to mention the resume. just think there really are a TON of positives with the guy. and from the outside, cant see any reason to think otherwise. there hasnt been one single point brought up. not ONE, that would even initiate any thought about why he WOULDNT make a good coach or a good fit. there isnt one single thing so far that would give any indication that perhaps we shouldnt pursue him. not a single thing. in this entire thread.

and its not like people havent tried. its just "NO because I dont think so, and im right" and im like WHY are u right? "well because i am and i have no reason to think the way i do - yet i still think that way"

havent seen too much that would indicate cowher would be a better choice either. really not too much said to argue cowhers merits. although clearly the do exist. i personally just dont believe they exist in the abundance that grudens do. i believe enough points have been made to back up that belief in this thread.
