Today is definitely a sweet day for most NFL fans, John Madden told NBCSports President, Dick Ebersol, that he is retiring effective immediately from Broadcasting. Although I totally respect John Madden for his countless accomplishments in the NFL and I enjoyed his broadcasting on FOX with Pat Summerall, the past several years have been a running joke as an announcer.

I wonder if they replace Michaels and put in a totally new broadcast team or they get him a new sidekick...id love to see Cris Collinsworth in there somehow, i think his analysis is top-notch at the moment...well Madden-Haters enjoy the news lol, how appropriate, the year Favre definitely hangs them up, so does his # 1 Fan Madden...

Wow! That is huge...Not that he is a great announcer, but he is just the first person that people think of when we think of modern football broadcasting...That is crazy.

He better still do his game though!

well in a perfect world id love to see Gus Johnson in there somehow but thats impossible lol...unless he makes the jump to NBC, im all aboard the bandwagon! lol

I always made fun of him, as most do, but that was part of the fun of the game. I still enjoyed his games, unlike Kornheiser. I am going to the game against the Colts on Monday night just so I have to hear him one less week.

I hope it's not Collinsworth. HE SUCKS!

That would BLOW if he got the gig.

I like Aikman in the booth, there aren't too many anouncers that I actually like.

I'm still pissed that ESPN haven't canned that Woody Allen/Howard Kosell parasitic mutant from MNF. He has to be the all time worst announcer in the history of the NFL.

Collinsworth should team up with kornheister and that 2 ton momma's boy Peter King and move to N Korea...:d-day:

For as many as annoying little things he would say, or obvious facts... it is not going to be the same this year not hearing his voice.

The man knows football, but I think it is probably time to call it a career due to not being able to relate to the fans of now days. Thanks John!

I'll miss the fella

Phil Simms would be a great choice, but I read somewhere that they already decided it's collinsworth. :(

I will miss him. He loved football & he was pretty funny in his own way too.

Collinsworth just loves controversy.

yeah that one sunday night game that madden did not make it, and they sampled with collinsworth, it was to test michaels and collinsworth together because he will be maddens replacement. i just hope he doesn't start making football games either not the same ring to it. collinsworth 2010 its in the game
