This was my impression but the domestic violence was definitely the last straw

The last time America gathered as one to watch a show on HBO this highly anticipated, Tony Soprano was in a diner, Steve Perry’s voice was in the background, and we were cut to darkness on one of the most dysfunctional families in TV history. Unlike “The Sopranos” series finale five years ago, Chad Johnson’s final moments as a Miami Dolphin didn’t leave any unanswered questions, mystery or room for debate the next morning.

Not so 'Hard Knock'

Watch how coach Joe Philbin gently cuts Chad Johnson from the Dolphins on a reality television show.

At the 57-minute mark of Tuesday night’s episode of “Hard Knocks", it was made loud and clear — Chad Johnson was not going to be a member of the Miami Dolphins in 2012.
Tuesday’s HBO viewing experience provided us with a rare behind-the-scenes look of what happens when the rubber hits the road — hell, when the crap hits the fan — for a struggling, aging veteran in a young man’s game. Long before Johnson’s arrest rocked the TMZ world on Saturday night, it appears as though his fate with the Dolphins was decided. The entire hour-long episode was built with clips of Johnson mishaps and shortcomings on the field, rather than off.
Early on, Johnson, 34, is seen struggling mightily with Sean Smith, the Dolphins' veteran cornerback. Smith’s relentless on defense, knocking passes away and covering Johnson like a blanket. They trash talk and kid with each other, but it’s made overwhelmingly evident that Johnson is not schooling the Dolphins

Given that he was listed as a starter a week ago, this whole premise seems odd to me and dubious at best.

It was well known that he isn't the same WR of 4 years ago - but this still wasn't as bad a reach as signing Chris Carter and letting him play

Atleast Carter actually caught the ball when it was threw to him. Chad's drop was so awful vs TB.

I definitely agree with signing him and taking the chance but I think that he was only listed as number one because as crazy as it sounds Hartline was on the sideline. Bottom line our WR corp is suspect at best and him being listed as our number one was more of a default rather than him being in a league above the rest.

scary for us they apparently thought an over-the-hill, loudmouth bum was better than wallace or moore. a lot of time and reps wasted there.

I am just glad they cut him sooner rather than later. He really did us a favor by acting like an idiot so quickly as we won't have the possibility of having to endure a whole season of that annoying bird call crap that he made on the line of scrimmage. What a joke! I would rather have a mildly talented kid who is working his butt off than that idiot.

The premise of this article is blatantly false, IMO.

In truth it honestly could be a cover to try to sugar coat the situation and make it seem like he was doing poorly. Hard knocks definitely made it seem this way too but who knows. Only thing for certian is that Philbin decided he was not his guy and has moved on...

Yeah right! Carter dropped an important one in the end zone vs Minnesota, that drop cost us the playoffs. Ears was at QB @ the time

I will never forgive him for that drop, i can't stand that idiot on tv either.

Yeah um I gotta think if not for the incident chad would still be on the team this is nothing more than imageworks

A team can't just cut a player for an arrest without a conviction I believe. I think this is some more spin, just like the highlights from hard knocks were. All we've heard for all of TC is that he looked like our best WR and then we get a montage of him struggling before they release him.
