Jon Gruden - Pro Miami on MNF???

as much as i have been looking forward to seeing matt moore, i am DONE and BOYCOTING all things ESPN over that commy move they made firing HANK WILLIAMS JR. its not that i am a hardcore fan but the whole thing was flat out un american and gave the finger to the 1st amendment.

and i hope others get the importance of the boycot whether you like hank or not. is this really where we are heading as a country? think this kind of thing wont effect what you like, or something you believe in? it will.
anyhoo.......

GRUDEN is neither here not there to me at this point. pros and cons on him. ireland being retained and carl peterson hanging around scare me much more.

there are ALWAYS strong opinions on coaches. don shula was not well liked by many players. jake scott refered to him as ATILLA THE HUN in an interview with him in hawaii a couple years back! [wonder if he lost his job after that was printed?]. many cowboys hated jimmie johnson, charles hailey said he was EVIL and hated him with every inch of his soul. lombardi? oh man!!! jim taylor and bart star despised him!!

so whatever. where is simeon rice these days?

John Gruden is a 'fan' of every team that plays on MNF...not just the 'phins.

If we can not got Cowher I'd take him.
 
Every fricken players name that is brought up, Gruden says "he's a good player, I really like him". You could have a one armed waterboy with an I.Q. of 3 suit up and if his name was brought up, Gruden would say how good he is.

It's comical at times. Last year he evaluated many QB's and basically said ALL would be special.
He's been right about one so far Cam.

Jon was right about more than just Cam Newton. He also loved Andy Dalton, who is doing very well as a rookie with the Bengals this year. He liked Jake Locker but admitted that he is a player that will need some time. He didn't say much about Ryan Mallett. I think Mallett impressed him with his chalk work, but Jon prefers more mobile quarterbacks than what Ryan Mallet is.

Here's the thing with Jon Gruden though that I feel makes him a better candidate than the other currently unemployed former head caoches are. First of all, Jon is a quarterback centric coach. He puts a lot on the quarterback's shoulders and wants his quarterback to execute the game plan to perfection. Since 1995, all Miami has had are coaches that want to diminish what the quarterback has to do. Folks, it has been 15 years, and that style just doesn't work in Miami at this point. It is time to go the other direction, and the quest for a quarterback centric coach and a quarterback is on.

Second, this guy has done nothing but watch film and study football since he was fired in Tampa Bay in 2009. He has spent time with Chip Kelly at Oregon and Urban Meyer at Florida because he wants to learn the college spread offense. There is a hunger for coaching in him that is very clear to see. The intriguing thing about Jon Gruden is whether he will bring the college spread to the NFL as a base offense.

With Bill Cowher, Miami would have yet another coach that is not quarterback centric. Cowher is a defensive guy, and his teams have for the most part been run oriented teams that have tried to diminish what the quarterback does. He didn't win a superbowl till he realized that he needed a legitimate quarterback. Even if he has become more quarterback centric, where is the fire to coach? Cowher has been unemployed as a coach since 2007, and unlike Gruden, I haven't been reading reports of him going to coaching clinics and meeting with other coaches to learn new, exciting things.
 
Have you guys seen the lastest promo for Monday night ? When they start talking about Marshall saying he's "going monster" for the game Gruden turns away and shakes his head. His look is that of a disapproving father or a future head coach. It's like i'll put a stop to this bull**** when I'm the Fins coach.

Yep. We all know what he did to Keyshawn Johnson. He basically told him, we will continue paying you if you just leave and don't come back.

Same guy that Warren Sapp loves. I would rather have Gruden then Cowher. Cowher is a ground and pound 3-4 guy. I have had enough of both.

He ripped Jimmy Claussen a new one, who for some reason was highly thought of before last year's draft. But he does have a tendency to make everyone sound great, that is until he actually starts coaching those players, then the only QB he wants is the QB he doesn't have (like when he tried to bring in Brett Favre the year after Jeff Garcia played his butt off and took a 4-12 to a division winner the next year).
