Jon Stinchcomb released by Saints.

Cut Colombo now (regardless of whether or not we get Stinchcomb) and go after Stinchcomb!

I'm still trying to figure out why in the hell we moved Carey inside ...

Because Carey was just as horrible at RT as he is now at RG and besides, who is the other guard if Carey was stil a tackle ? Nate Garner? No way, regardless of his cheerleaders on this site, Garner is not a starter. Berger ? er, no, Berger cannot play guard and Berger is going to be lucky if he is even activated on game day for that matter.
John Jerry ? Please, no, last year was hard enough to watch.
Only one qualified on the Miami Dolphins to play RG is Incognito. IMO, he should have been the starting center but that would still leave a void at RG. I can live with Murtha at RT but still giving Columbo a chance to shake the rust off.

if he was cut by the cowboys they would have signed him already

Great guy but unfortunately he played all last season injured and had major quad surgery this last off season. He did "start" the Saints first preseason game and promptly almost got Drew Brees killed. At 31 years old and having suffered a long series of serious injuries the Saints didn't think he had anything left. These aren't your dad's Saints - the Saints FO isn't going to cut a Pro Bowl Tackle, take a cap hit for it, because they don't know what they are doing like they have in the past.

Thank you for this.

What I'm wondering is if the Dolphins can sign him and then place him on the PUP list. I don't know the particulars on that.

I'm sure Bush will give them the heads up, good to have insiders.

They should be bringing in as much competition for the OL as possible at this point. For such an OL guru ole Tony boy hasn't done a lot since his first year here. That and I don't understand why they do not invest at least a couple of years worth of high picks on solid lineman. Alright I do realize they got Pouncy this year, but they could have had Carl Nicks a couple years back in the second round and passed on him. Look at what the Jets did when they grabbed Mangold and Ferguson in the same year, and I believe both in the first round. They are anchors to their line. Stinchcomb would at the very least offer some competition for the guys in there now and provide depth.

If he went on the PUP list now would we not have to wait till week 6 before being able to take him off?

Can we seriously stop worrying about overpaying for good talent on this board? You want quality you pay for it! The dude is a pro bowl tackle and a super bowl champion. You know what being cheap gets you? Marc Colombos. If that's what you enjoy watching suit yourself.

Because it makes better business sense to not overpay for old talent. So you want to overpay for a guy when you haven't re-signed Cam Wake? Then you limit yourself to re-signing the truly exceptional players on this roster...and then you'll be the first to complain about no having money to sign these guys.

Exactly. I think the Dolphins are holding back on any major veteran signings until they have Langford's new contract in hand at the least, and maybe not until after Soliai signs a new contract (I'm suprised we've heard nothing about that). This may be why O'Hara hasn't been signed although it's curious why no one else has interest in signing him either. If he was quality, doesn't everyone think the Jets would be interested? But they don't seem to be.

Isnt what we're saying here is that we should be drafting lots of Oline?

got to be startin somethin....

They can take him off the PUP list anytime prior to week 6 and must activate him. If after week 6 they do not activate him then they must put him on IR for the rest of the season.
