Good to get them knocked out now so we don't have any headaches when camp starts like when we didn't have Pouncey signed last year. I guess not having a lockout to deal with this year helps too.

Cheap top talent, I love how much the new CBA will help NFL teams keep talent on the field longer. No more wasted money going to unproven kids!!

Good news. I doubt Martin can initially outperform the likes of Vollmer who is a good one, but considering Pears/Young and Wayne Hunter, there's an excellent possibility, if he fulfills the potential he demonstrated at Stanford, we soon will be fielding the 2nd best RT along with the best LT in the division. And our C is no slouch either!

FINALLY! RT situation is solved for some time now!

I still think it's a sketchy situation with the CBA. Yes, I do agree that the rookie signing money was getting out of control with players getting 5 year, 50 million dollar contracts with 35 mill guaranteed etc etc.

But at the same time, from a players prespective the average NFL career is 3-5 years. So if some rookie blows out his knee in the third year of his contract and never plays again, seems a bit one sided IMO.

A little early but lets hope-so

Awesome, Miami is starting to pick up the pace on the signings, hopefully they can get everyone signed, so that that everyone can just concentrate on football.

The only concern is now these players will have all summer to spend their money and get in trouble. Though Miami drafted some high character players so it is less of a concern for the Dolphins than other teams.

I do see your point, except in this economy we have people working their butt of for....lets say United Space Alliance and NASA but get laid off. Its a business and the kids should know the risks and benefits of their career choice.

I think it would be awesome to get a sign on bonus of millions of dollars to hold me over in case I get laid off xD

BACK TO MARTIN!! I am hoping he will become an exceptional player, he definitely has talent. And with the amount we paid him, we can add even more talent around him ;)

He won't have much trouble performing better than that turnstile we had there last year.

Actually to my understanding, the only players that are really taking a significant pay decrease is the top half of the first round, & because of this all the other players get a little increase in pay actually.

One of the selling points for the players is an increase in the minimum salaries. Owners have agreed to a 10-12 percent increase in the minimum salary structure. Rookies, for example, would go from $330,000 to $375,000. The increases go to $450,000 for second-year players, $525,000 for third-year players, $600,000 for fourth-year players, $685,000 for players with five-to-seven years of experience, $810,000 for players with eight-to-10 years of experience and $910,000 for players with more than 10 years of experience.

Also for the first round picks, their 4 year deals are 100% guaranteed money. Even though Cam's 4 year 22 million dollar deal pales in comparison to the 76$ million deal Sam Bradford got (which is ridiculous), at least it's all guaranteed. The team also has an option on a fifth year, and if they pick it up his salary goes to the average of the top 10 at his position.

All in all it needed to happen, teams couldn't keep affording to give the Jamarcus Russell's of the world 60 million dollars. If you miss you really put yourself in a hole for the next half a decade, I believe that was part of the reason Miami went with Long over Ryan (please don't turn this into a Long vs. Ryan thread).

Pretty solid tape, one of the only unflattering plays was at 3:26 when he pulls out on a bubble screen and fails to locate the linebacker quick enough, whom ultimately ends up changing the direction of the receiver in the back field.

If a player blows out his knee after three years then the owner just gave away 35 million guaranteed to an injured bum. Why does a player that barely lasted in this league deserve all that money, injured or bust? This new CBA has so much more insurance for the owner's money, they actually get to pay proven and everlasting players instead of college busts and injured bums.

Players need to take better care of themselves cause over half of the injuries that happens in a season is mainly due to poor conditioning.
