“Martin’s mental ability test results are consistently positive,” the report reads. “His matrices data place him well above the minimum typically associated with his position.
“He is not afraid to say what is on his mind if things are not going as they should. He is likely to be seen as a team enforcer if his level of play lets him assume this role.”

“Martin enjoys man-to-man challenges and the chance to compete,” the report said. “During games he will demonstrate a tough, no-holds-barred aggressive attitude that will help bring out the competitive spirit in his teammates. Martin has a very high level of dedication and desire to reach his full potential as a player, and he will set a good example of getting the most of one’s ability. He takes practices seriously and will work hard to improve his skills and technique. He has a strong passion for the game and being a good football player is a very high priority for him.

“Deep down, Martin has high expectations for himself and consistently feels that he can accomplish what he sets out to do on the field. Coaches will see that he will be able to shrug off bad breaks during a game and maintain confidence in his ability to succeed.”

Now, after reading this, what does everyone think?

I, for one, believe Martin is finding a scapegoat in incognito. Fact that incognito was not targeted person when lawyers put out their plaintiffs statement tells me that Martin has changed his stance and is now going after multiple players. Maybe he's acting as if its "me vs the world". An extremely gifted man (mentally and physically) is attacking a locker room full of men. A guy who, from this pre draft personality test, likes to be the "anchor" or "enforcer". Since he wasn't able to accomplish the "highest level" and in a sense FAILED (demoted and chastised) as an offensive lineman, he snapped and looked for a scapegoat. This guy knew what he was getting himself into this season. He endured a full season with the same people and had a chance to stand for his rights. Instead he let the **** hit the fan and decided..... Lets throw all the chips in and find an excuse for failure.

When someone has never really experienced failure academically or in his sport until getting to the the big stage of the NFL, sometimes it is pretty hard to take. It can be good to learn the experience of minor failures along the way. I am increasingly of the belief that Martin is a complex character with a stronger element of sensitivity than most NFL players. That doesn't necessarily make him soft, but any player compared to Incognito may appear a wuss. Big Richie didn't win the title of the "dirtiest player in the NFL" for nothing. It was probably wrong to pair the two of them together and now our team is the loser, with neither.
Maybe NFL teams need to employ a professional psychologist to avoid the risk of these sort of implosions. The hard heads will say that is ridiculous, but we are talking about a multi billion dollar business that just gets bigger and bigger. I can see the day coming when professional sports psychologists are on the payroll.

Well jeez I'm glad they take these tests to tell us exactly how robotperson Martin will react to situations! Martin also only became friends with Incognito because the day they met, his horoscope told him he would "make a new friend."

This could tell why a dude who has always been successful and his parent and their parents have always been successful couldn't handle failure. Key thing missing is that Martin sent incognito a text saying, it wasn't incognito, he just couldn't handle the nfl locker room. Why did Martin then tell his, highly successful cultured, parents the latter? Then after word came out that team supported incognito, he hired the most successful sports attorney and attacked not only incognito but other teammates?

Is he afraid of failure because of strong emphasis on success from his parents?

Let's check the facts in orderly fashion: first, demoted from left tackle. then, ridiculed for lackluster play at both left tackle and right tackle by fans and media. Then, oline plays infamous prank on him and he explodes and ran away from situation.

Do you think a family as successful as martins would tolerate such behavior without valid excuse?

Look. There was never a question in my mind about Martin's intelligence. What I do know is that he was never physically strong enough which was and still is my only problem with him. All this stuff people are throwing out there about him is just out of anger towards him for bringing down this dumb and incompetent regime.

Let's not forget that all these players are trained what to do and say pre-draft in order to raise their draft stock.

Bingo - I think that you've nailed it. Martin may be using Incognito as a scapegoat and now he is referring to multiple players (which probably includes Pouncey).
Your evaluation of the situation is the most logical that I have seen. Martin struggles with accommodating any failure because he probably hasn't had to face it until entering the NFL. He is highly intelligent and has been programmed just to win. I would not be totally surprised if there was genuine concern that he could be suicidal. Incognito's Dad hinted to it in his diatribe.
I would be very interested in the subject of the one on one meeting between Philbin and Martin before the cafeteria incident. My hunch is that the coach told him that as a result of the failure to protect Tannehill well enough, he was moving to right OT with McKinney taking his spot at left OT, etc. While all of the attention was on Clabo and his failure and demotion. the coach may have been very direct in his message to Martin. This is more likely the reason for the emotional implosion and the Incognito harassment was a good peripheral excuse.

These things are tools and shouldn't be the only thing used as part of the vetting process. If they're relied upon too heavily a) it's lazy and b) it's unreliable. I use these types of testing all the time to hire .... all kinds of people slip through the cracks on written, oral and psychological exams.

The face to face and backround investigations usually reveal issues these tests do not. But a person has to be good at it.

People, no man is Bullied. At least not a real man. This guy is extremely intelligent and those grades btw trump all lineman in predraft assessment. If people were coached and told what to say but you give the test your
answer that best represents you.

What do I think after reading this? I think they must've been talking about the wrong person!
