Jordan Phillips is an athletic freak of nature. Some draft analysts had him going late in the 1st round of the the 2015 NFL draft but fell dude to a back injury. You know who fell in the draft do to a back injury, "Gronk". Jordan Phillips is able to do a back flip but truly no one wants to see it because we need to keep him healthy. From a rookie going into their second year that is where true growth takes place. In my opinion I believe Jordan Phillips did way better then Earl Mitchell, who couldn't stop the run to save his life. When you watch the tape of last season, you see Phillips swat a lot of passes from the pocket area. With the mindset of Gase trying to get his trench players stronger in the offseason. This should be Jordan Phillips area of expertise. If Gase called Suh fat, I wonder what he called Phillips? Us true fin fans know Phillips has a high percentage of body fat and looked out of shape at times during the season. I just watched on youtube Jordan Phillips rookie report and he said he has worked out with Suh multiple times. If he puts his heart and work ethic into Gase's program and the contagious effect Suh brings to the atmosphere and locker room. Their is no one else who has a higher ceiling then Phillips. I'm very curious to see how he is approaching this offseason. Many fin fans believe we need to draft a DT early and with all the talent this draft class has in the 1st round and beyond. We can truly solidify and build a nasty front 4 with debth. I still say we go CB in the first if Zeke is not there, but if he is gone and VH3 is not there who is the best choice? There is a drop off in talent at the CB position. I like WJIII and Apple. I'm just reporting what I see that is out there. Who do you see the fins taking in the 1st?

I think we all hope he becomes everything you hope he becomes.

Spoken like a real expert! Hindsight and all…

Freak of nature, an overused word for dolphin players.

Good thing we don't have Ireland he would've traded up in the top ten to select C Ryan Kelly and traded away Pouncey for a 3rd round pick.

I like Jordan Phillips talent, but I don't know if he'll develop into a great player or just be another guy. His play from last year showed more in the passing game than defensing the run. Overall, I'd say he was somewhat disappointing.

With all the talent at DT, I'm one of the fans who thinks Miami should hedge their bets here. Building a great defensive line is important. It's one area, besides quarterback, where New England has remained strong throughout their 14 years of dominance.

And with all the talent in the draft at DT why not get one. If Phillips develops great then you have a potentially amazing rotation and can keep your lineman fresh.

The Dolphins have failed throughout the last 20 years because they are always drafting for need instead of the best player available. Why not go DT if that's the best player available?

One of the top 5 most physically gifted players on the team

If he dropped the weight he was asked to and ups his conditioning/stamina in the process hes a potential boom candidate in year 2

hes a better talent than just about every one of the dts in this 2016 draft class

The thing that was said about Phillips is, he needs to get in better physical condition. Needs to drop weight and firm up as well as develop stamina.

Should have gotten Perryman.

Should have used those late round picks and traded up in the second and drafted Kendricks.

If there was a player to get when they passed on a LB it was probably Phillips. DT's, even those with elite gifts, normally take longer to develop. I remember people wanting to get rid of Soliai after year two, but when you compared his ascent to other good DT's, it was very similar. I tried to find the thread but I think it was lost in the server crash. I see Phillips having a much more productive year in 2016.

Given how the previous staff completely misused talent, I'll go ahead and reserve judgement.

Phillips' athleticism has been somewhat overstated. You look at the workout numbers and outside of the 30inch vertical they certainly don't bear it out. People keep saying it and saying it though so somehow it's become the truth.

In every draft there are hits and misses. Phillips certainly looked like a miss last year. Yeah it's too early to make definite judgements, but I'm going to assume he's a miss until he proves otherwise.
