Jordan Phillips interview from MiamiDolphins.com. This dude is saying all the right things. Seems smart with his answers...my favorite by far was when he was asked about his work ethic...OWNED it and took it as a cue to work rather than get defensive - maturity in action....

Obviously I did something to make people believe that so I just have to change it.

edit: Apologies i think this has already been posted. Still, that one line i quoted above really impressed me - shows the type of guy he is.

yeah once again... i love the fact he manned up and took responsibility on his so called faults or issues he has... something to work on he knows and needs to fix!!!

he needs to keep working hard, lose weight and get in top shape... he has good people around him, he also seems like he is a good kid and definitely has the ability to do so!!! love it!!!

Just my hunch....of the two concerns motor and back, I'm more worried about the back. I think his motor will be adequate. Hopefully the back will be fine too.

Before we got Suh, I was sort of panicked about our D tackle situation. I started looking at the d tackles in the draft, Shelton, Brown, Phillips, Goldman, Davis. I have heard some people compare Phillips to Daryl Gardener. I don't see that other than the back issue. Gardener was ripped and flat out chiseled. I don't see that in Phillips. If Phillips lost 20 lb and re-made his body and lost his body fat, maybe. But I just see a different guy.

Nevertheless, I do agree with the sentiment that we need to occupy offensive linemen with the likes of Phillips etc to free up Suh to make plays.

Phillips instead of Starks and Paker instead of Wallace could be two young upgrades in a hurry as they get acclimated. Fresh legs.

Gardener had a similar rap on his motor. Taking plays off.

He came off very well in the interview .. But watching his games he just doesnt look that great in a lot of them. I really hope he picks it up and gets a mean streak working. A lot of the time he's very passive for that huge frame.

Don't care about saying all the right things. Johnny Manziel said all the right things too. Show me on the field.

Yes, the questions were similar even though the build is completely different.

The Dolphins haven't had great luck in the first two rounds with linemen and concerns about intensity level. I was thinking about this the other day. Gardener was the one success that stood out. Otherwise I was remembering examples like Mike Kadish, Darryl Carlton, Donald Reese, Eddie Blake and one or two others.

the one thing I am looking for out of him early on is showing that ability and consistently DOMINATING throughout camps and practices... he might be out of shape at this time, he needs to work on to help that as well. i agree getting that more mean streak as well to help that motor.
