Did anyone notice .... this guy could end up being a hell of a good player? (Unlike the rest of our D line yesterday :err: )

I know it wasn't a popular pick (wasn't in love with it personally) but thought he had a strong preseason then got a sack with his first NFL snap!

I think fortune is a two way street, because having an all pro in Suh to mentor him will pay off in spades.

Great play. Let's hope he will get consistent results as that was the knock on him coming into the draft. Did anyone else happen to key in on him the rest of the game to see how he looked?

I will say this... his presence was felt immediately. He stepped on the field and bam, sack. But taking off the glasses for a minute, let's not forget he's part of a rotation that wore down the OL. His problem has always been "motor". So, playing behind Suh means he only has to play limited snaps and can maximize his effort to look all world. Let him start and let Suh sub in and let's compare results. I was disappointed in Suh yesterday, but I had to remind myself the Skins do have some talent on the OL. It just gets forgotten with their record.

On another note, I can't say I'll be looking forward to the next game Dan Fouts calls. I don't know who is more bias, him or Collinsworth. Only Fouts' bias isn't with rooting for "his" team, he enjoys rooting against the "other" team. The only thing he said yesterday that shocked me was when he said "every Skins' OL is holding on every play and it's not getting called"....

WELCOME to our NEW problem..... we have so much talent on D now we are not going to get holding calls against the OL. This is a new development for us. As our talent level has raised on DL, now the level of execution must raise even higher. Our "normal calls" have elevated. Get used to a new double standard for us this year. This is part of the Suh effect.

They couldn't be that tired in the first quarter :ponder:

A 330lb man moving that quick is impressive. I wouldn't mind seeing him more next to Suh or a hybrid 3-4. Imagine Vernon, Mitchell, Phillips, Suh and Wake. Then Jenkins and Misi as our Inside Lb.

I would not be down on Suh. The Redskins consistently cut blocked, double teamed, and ran away from him. The issue was that Mitchell and Vernon were not able to close down their gaps. Also, our well known LB deficiency came home to roost.

i know that couldn't be the only snap he played because i didn't see him out there at all after that? anyone know?

** nevermind read barry jackson article he was in on 11 plays

The sack aside, I definitely saw his presence in run defense as well. The DL seemed more solid when he was in, he occupies space and holds his ground very well. Didn't expect our first sack of the year to come from Phillips to be honest either

LOL. Cousins saw that speeding bus coming at him and played dead

I really hope he sees 20+ snaps next week.

By season's end he will be starting. I loved this pick when we made it and I wouldn't change it now if I could. Phillips is better than Malcolm Brown whom New England use their first round pick on.

As insanely obvious as it sounds, a lot of success our failures will hinge on the play of Phillips and Parker. They are both potential x-factor's that we need to develop at a rapid rate.
