Josh Rosen led a 99-yard Dolphins touchdown drive, and looked sharp, in a 22-7 defeat of the Jaguars on Thursday night.

Rosen, 22, was more impressive than projected starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, 36. On the surface, this might seem to make Dolphins coach Brian Flores’ final decision harder.

And it did. Sort of.

It was a mix on both sides, Fitz with miami's mix of 1-2 against Jags mix of 1-2, and Rosen with Miami's mix of 2's & cuts vs Jags mix of 2's & cuts

Everyone wants rosen to start, but even Rosen himself speaks in terms that he hasn't really grasped the offence yet. Don't throw the kid to the wolves and ruin his confidence more. Bring him in slowly. Even brining him in week 2 vs Pats is better than week 1 vs the Ravens D.

Personally, I'm good with whatever the coaches decide. Rosen has shown he has the tools, and I believe he has outplayed Fitz in the games...but if the staff feels Rosen needs to firm up his grasp on the system, so be it. This is a throwaway year as it is, so whatever happens happens...I have some respect for this coach and willing to buy-in for now.

I just want Flores to be true to his word.keep this team fighting for their jobs.yhose who won the battle will start.
I agree 100% but I suppose that Flores could claim that Fitz has been the better, more consistent player in practice.

The ONLY thing that makes sense about Rosen not starting, would be if Flores/Grier feel his confidence was so shattered in Arizona, that they want to let the Oline and team gel a little before putting him under so much pressure. Maybe they feel with our oline (especially early on) he will be bombarded (which he will) and his confidence will be gone forever. Thats the only sense I can make of it.

Your team, Coach Flores.

Start who gives us the best chance to Win.

Always!!!

This is supposed to be a show case year for Rosen right? Maybe not so much. All this on Fitz starting could be an indication that they actually feel like they have their guy. No rush to start him. Groom him and wait until the coach feels he is 100% ready. Not saying this is my opinion but maybe it’s a possibility

I think Flores actions with the way he played the QB's highly suggests that he wants Fitz to start. He stayed with him until he finally scored and then put Rosen in at the worst time possible. He (Rosen) answered in spades. IMHO Flores was trying to avoid a QB controversy and ended up making it bigger.

Among others, Flores and O'Shea have practiced with and against the GOAT QB for years so you would expect them to have to comparative parameters to measure Rosen by. If they feel he's reminiscent of Brady, I agree that aside from the benefit of having the OL get better and learn the system, there's no reason to rush him onto the field.

I know he had a rocky first year with a terrible team including coaching, but if it was us who drafted Rosen at 10 this spring, most everyone would be bullishly optimistic about his performance.
