There has never been any doubt that Jason can get to the QB, but his run defense has always been the Achilles heel in his game. I am not saying he sux, but when he was asked to play the Sam before he would have trouble keeping the wide bodies off of him. Good to hear, at least in practice, he is adjusting. But is that not what great players do.
The one pass rusher I have been feeling (for three straight practices) has been Jason Taylor, who is filling in for Matt Roth as the team's strong side linebacker. JT is probably the most dominant player on the field right now. Last year Vernon Carey really wasn't challenged, but this season he's not winning all of his battles with Taylor, a six-time Pro Bowler. I haven't seen Taylor get to the quarterback consistently yet, but he's killing the run, which was my biggest concern for him. I'll go out on a limb and say he's the opening day starter right now. Bold talk, but he is the NFL's active sacks leader so how much of a risk can I really be taking.

I love when a player has something to prove, it's like being a rookie all over again fighting to make the team. If JP can have a year close to last year then having JT on fire opposite of him will make our pass rush one of the best in the league.

These are two things I never thought I would hear in the same sentence. Better late than never, I suppose. Go get em' JT!

Great news! It was the only thing that worried me about JT. Hopefully we can keep him in the field longer if this continues

Good to hear, but I'd still expect him to get pushed around in the run game...

That makes me nervous as hell. If Jason Taylor is "killing it in the run game" that doesn't say much for Vernon Carey and the OL. They just might not be as good as some have advertised.

Jason Taylor's not a run stuffer folks just wait till he gets off the practice field and in a game. He does one thing well and that is rush the passer.

In his last few years in Miami, JT was a very good run defender. People assume he's weak against the run because he's long and relatively light, but he uses his long arms to keep blockers off his body. Is this really breaking news?
