5. Jason Taylor to the Jaguars
Taylor, who turns 34 before Week 1, won’t be able to help Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano when the Dolphins are good again. Frankly, Taylor is already past the usual expiration date for defensive ends.

Parcells knows Taylor’s value will never be higher and should be motivated to move him. Taylor should be motivated to play another year or two to help build his brand before moving to Hollywood.

Unfortunately for Taylor, he may struggle to get publicity if he’s dealt to the Jaguars. Jacksonville has an extra third-round pick to play with, so giving up a second- and fourth-round pick for Taylor wouldn’t hurt that much.

Jacksonville is rumored to have interest, as they look to add a final piece to a possible championship run. Taylor would give them another pass rusher to terrorize Peyton Manning twice a year.

also, there is a hint at a Simms-to-Miami trade hidden in the article:

3. Roy Williams to the Eagles
So what if this isn't likely. Did you want to read a column full of names like Chris Simms (to the Phins) and Dewayne Robertson (to the Broncos)?

not much new, but thought I'd share......

I thought we were done with trading for has-been (T. Green, Culpepp) and never-been quarterbacks(Feeley, Lemon, Simms).

Thanks, I believe we will trade JT on draft day. Simms to Miami is interesting in the fact that if we pick him up we will not be selecting a QB. It is also interesting because prevailing thought is that Simms gets released. I wonder what we would give up for him...a sixth or seventh?

IMO JT traded = Chris Long #1 pick.... I know about all the contract talks, its just my opinion.

Wouldn't mind Simms at all, if we can get him for a late 2nd day pick.

I don't see us giving up anything to get Simms or any other backup QB at this point. As far as JT, we'll either do something on draft day or we'll wait until mid-season (like we did with Chambers last year) and get more for him from a team who needs that final missing piece to contend in the playoffs. We probably never would have received a 2nd for Chambers before the draft last year, but during the season, when there's not a lot to choose from, it drives up their value.
I also don't understand why the Vikes aren't looking at JT for their needs verus Allen. Allen is going to cost them WAY too much and we all know that KC doesn't come down when they want a lot for someone. So why not JT ? Udeze is doing well on his treatment and very likely may come back. If that's the case, then they only need someone for 1-3 years. And JT will be a LOT cheaper than Allen. R. Spielman is familiar with JT too, so . . . . why not at least call and ask?

I've always liked Simms, I had hoped we would have gotten him a couple years ago. I think he can be a good QB in the league if he can get over the mindframe that he put himself in 2 years ago. He seams like a smart QB and a tough one at that.

simms is horrible, taylor i dont mind either staying or going, either way will help us

This is one of my first posts, so maybe i can try to look a little like i know what i am talking about. Why (if we get rid of JT) must it always be the first pick that we use to replace him. I understand that he is a major force on our defense, but couldn't we also use our 32nd pick on someone like Quinten Groves maybe? Just a thought.

we definitely could. the big reason with trying to replace JT asap is how parcells views those pass rushing 3-4 OLB's - courtesy of a Mr LT. the whole reason for a 3-4 is to have those OLB's coming off the edge - so that is why many people think this way. i, however, want j long either way b/c of how badly we need him. that help?

I have always believed that we will trade JT on draft day after our first pick is made. I believe the first pick will be Jake Long, so i agree with your premise that he will be replaced but not with the first pick. I think we will get a 2nd and a 4th from the kitty kats in Jax and we will use 1 of our 2nd's to replace him. Lawrence Jackson from USC or even Calais Campbell from the U. Welcome to the boards my brother!

IMO, the bucs are goona let Simms go sometimes after the draft anyways, so i dont believe the Fins should give up anything for him and just wait to pick him up through free agency.. as far as JT goes tho, he will not be traded. in fact, i wouldnt be surprised if he uses all this trade talk b.s. to motivate himself and win another Defensive Player of the year award with the dolphins this season.

i also wonder why they havent shown more interest. That possible trade JT for Mckinnie would have been good. Not saying we shouldnt want J. Long but that would have been a win win for both teams and free'd up an extra criticle draft pick for another one of our many holes.

but i am loving the negotiations with long. I hope he's a dolphin!!

I'd love to get a 2nd and a 4th for JT....it'd give us 3 picks in round 2 and we could draft Crable or Avril to play OLB plus we'd still have 2 more pick in round too so we could go corner plus WR or TE.

Ozzy rules!!
