I will once again sing the praises of Jason Taylor, a guy that will take it in the wallet because he wants to win more than anything. Jimmy Johnson didn't get much right for the Phins but he did get JT and Zach so, I have to give him props for those moves. I really hope that JT and Zach get a shot at the Super Bowl before their careers are over. They've earned it more than anybody on the team IMO.

Yep what a guy wish him the best luck and hope he gets his ring..

awesome to hear it seems him and zach just keep giving to this franchise i hope they both get there well deserved rings before they retire

Isn't he getting the same amount of money, it's just distributed differently (i.e. bonus money)?

Ah what generosity. Giving up 2.5 mil and getting it right back. At least he hasnt said hes struggling to feed his family or anything like that. But JT didnt give up anything.

you have to love him he does anything to win and he is a great atribute to our ball club thank you jason!

Im curious as to why this happens now instead of maybe a month ago...does anyone else feel that perhaps Saban and Mueller are looking to add Rogers or any other FA's available and need the cap room to get it done? hope this is a sign of impending moves to come, for you can never improve a roster too much:D

it better positions us to acquire more talent, its probably cutting some of the money from his contract when hes making near 8-10 million a year and spreading it out more or something, something like brady did because they have a head on their shoulders and understand what it takes to get depth on a roster, which is what it takes to win these days, because everyone gets hurt

i think it was done a month ago but nevertheless jt helped out the team once again..that is about the only thing jj did for the dolphins drafting jt and zach..he didnt lose any money by restructuring but he didn't have to do it..ya gotta love jt and zach!!

Don't get me wrong, I love what Jason Taylor brings to the table, his intensity and everything else about his game, but he is not giving up any money. The union would have a fit, if a player actually gave money back on a contract restructure. They just distribute the money differently. I could go from a base salary to guaranteed. Trust me when I say that he did not give the money up, just had the way he receives it altered.

Whether he restructured or whatever, JT showed once again his willingness to work with the team to help win games. While he does make a dang nice income, he proved once again he's a team guy IMO. We love you JT!

JT is probably my favorite player...........but whythe praise here???

He decided to take 2.5 million NOW, rather than have it incrementally paid over the coarse of the year. Why does that make him a saint again?? I wish my boss would ask me to do that for my company (not even talking about the amount...but getting my money sooner).

Well actually, the added bonus money increases his cap figure in future years, which may induce the team to cut ties with him sooner than he wants.

Saban might be pressuring him to come up with a rough time table for retirement, how long he wants to be on the team, and then they sit down and figure out a way to make it realistically happen so that he never plays for another team. He tried to do that with Olindo Mare but Mare mistook it for us just wanting him to take a pay cut.

MY question is....what do we need the room for? What are we planning to do?
