Now that this sham has come to a head what value can we salvage for JT at this point:

Can we do a straight trade for say C. Johnson / L. Shepherd or are we looking at best a 3rd rounder next year from some team in need of the final piece (i.e. JAC, PHI, DAL?).

Also regarding JT's position in the team can Quentin Moses step up, are Roth or Merling an option. I'm uncomfortable with Charlie Anderson and would rather see Ayodele here with Torbor and Crowder in the middle if Moses can't cut it.

Personally, I'd like to see Roth get a shot at OLB, he played there in college and its plain obvious that he doesn't fit long-term as a 3-4 DE. Mike Vrabel made the switch later in his career - could Roth?

I think Roth is a sneaky play at OLB this year . . . . if anybody saw the OTA film from yesterday . . . he looks easily under 270 . . . maybe 260ish . . . he definitely lost some weight though . . . and lets face it . . . its either OLB or a situational pass rusher . . . because he doesn't have the size to play DE in the 3-4. I still think Roth is a starter in this league . . . we just gotta figure him out.

Unless Miami gets their original want of a 2nd rounder or 1st rounder . . . I doubt we trade JT . . . I wouldn't mind a JT / CJ trade straight up . . . but ideally I would want JT here in September playing for us.

don't trade him, fine him for not showing up, etc etc.

he's under contract------ MAKE HIM LOVE US :boohoo:

First thing I thought when I saw the OTA highlights. I met Roth in London last year and he looks about 3 sizes smaller. I don't see why he couldn't play OLB. Him and Vrabel are almost identical statistically and Vrabel was a back-up at Pitt and nearly retired before he move to the Cheatriots and blossomed.

I agree, we gotta find someplace for him to play and I think they are looking at him at OLB.

Doubt we would get Lito or CJ in a straight up trade. Would probably have to add in a medium level draft pick like a 4th ( for CJ anyway).

If not our only other option is to get a third round pick in next years draft.

Cincy def wont trade us JT for CJ straight up. Wed probably need to give up a 1st or at least 2nd along with JT. JT for Lito straight up looks more realistic and at this point I would accept. ****, id even take Roy Williams for JT straight up at this point... But IMO, since we already said no to the bucs 2nd and the jags 3rd that we would be lucky to get a 4th for JT now, uless multiple teams come into the equation...

JT is still going to get 8 to 12 sacks, probably a few fumble recoveries, and maybe even a INT and touchdown or two...this is his way of telling the new regime you don't scare me...and lets face it; he's setting himself up for a pretty nice Hollywood gig after he retires; which isn't that far down the line anymore for him. I don't think the team can fine him for missing OTA's can they? If he doesn't report to camp on time, then they can...correct me if i'm wrong though!!!

If you consider B movies a pretty nice hollywood career.

Yes, they can fine him 14,000 per day for each day he misses a mandatory OTA.

Surly for a team like the Jags or Cowboys giving up a third in next years draft means very little when their best chance of winning is right now and if they picked up someone who will get around 10 sacks for one season, I dont understand why they would'nt go for it.

You are kidding yourself if you thin k for a second we can get Chad J for him. In fact, I don't think we could even get a 3rd anymore.

I'm with the keep him, fine him club now. Unless someone offers something more than a 3rd.

I agree with you on that, but the Jags offered us their 3rd already when we had more leverage than we do now. Thays why I dont see them doing it. At that time JT wasnt demanding a trade so the teams figured they HAD to give up something, now teams can just wait and see if we release him and therefore wouldnt have to give up anything. Now if there are multiple teams who want him that gives us more leverage and will drive up his trade value.. Hopefully that happens

Lets just keep fining him and not trade him. Wait until mid season to get top value if a trade must be completed. Let him whine. He was my favorite Fin second only to Dan but I dont even remember his name any more. If all we get is a 3rd or a 4th then no trade.

who said anything about movies...I can see JT hosting a reality show or two and starting a few gigs and maybe even a production company...lets not jump the gun here, I didn't say movies...but if he wants to do that (and potentially commit career suicide in Hollywood) then he is rich enough to recover from it and do something else...I would like him to be there for the OTA's but face it, the guy can flat out play, he always give 110% when he plays and he has the career numbers to back that up...I believe him when he says he'll come in here and give it his best, like he always does...and I don't forsee the team fining him 14k a day for OTA's...

HAHA, OMG.. I think I would throw up. He can be the next Ryan Seacrest. "JT OUT".

and I don't forsee the team fining him 14k a day for OTA's...

Why not? I certainly forsee it and it is within their legal rights too. Every year teams fine everyone for it. Lewis said CJ will be fined, Strahan was fines last year, Terrell Owens has been fined, Bobby Engram was fined, Richard Seymor was fined, I am fairly certain Parcells will fine the hell out of him, and I hope he does

At this point I agree. Whatever trade value JT had is gone. We have NO leverage except to fine him, and even so he could just decide to retire. Every GM out there...with the possible exception of Rick Speilman is watching this Soap Opera happen. They now JT will not play for the Miami Dolphins this year and thus his trade value is plummeting. At the end of the day if we trade him it will not be for very much value. That is how JT is really hurting this team. Even if he was dead set against playing for us, he could of kept his feelings in house instead he has made his feelings public and really screwed us in trying to get equal compensation. For that alone I am no longer a JT fan.
