pending JT does get traded...who do any of you think will step up and take his place as our teams premier pass rusher and inspire fear in other QBs?
 
Phillip Merling, that's why we drafted him. I'd bet that was the exact reason. and of course, can't forget Joey Porter(but don't know how much he's got left to be exact)
 
But Merling isnt a pass rusher, other than Porter, who will be getting to the QB next season.
 
Well, the word is that they wanted to develope Quentin Moses behind JT. Charlie Anderson and Akin Ayodele have good speed and could play outside. It has been said numerous times that Merling is a 3-4 DE, not a LB. He has build very similiar to Seymour.
 
merling replacing taylor was the idea when we draftd him, i think. it just might happen a little sooner than anticipated. still reserving judgment.

Kendall Langford and Merling are the future, but I thin k Langford will be more of the pass rusher type.
 
we will be fine, there is nothing to worry about. Phillip Merling is a stud! We stoled this guy! Don't wont we still have Rodrique Wright too?
 
yeah merling and langford are the future, future 3-4 DL, neither are OLB material nor pass rushers. We'll be shopping for a pass rush next year
 
yeah i know we have Merling,Langford,&Porter...but i was just wondering if any of you saw anyone else on our roster who y'all think could possibly step up and be the premier QB killer for us. Merling&Langford are rookies who have yet to to prove anything in a pro game,and i do hope Porter steps up to the plate on this,but i was just wondering on anyone else we have who could do this.
