JT's thoughts on Mare and DC

reading in between the lines on Mare and what his agent said, sounds like he is free to negotiate a new contract with any team and that he may have come to some agreement with one of them. However, that team has not offered up anything in trade and thus the Phins have no trade worked out.

Maybe if Mare wasnt so ****y about not practicing on dirt,he would be better now.I for one hate that he said he doesnt need to practice.Bye Mare, you dug your own hole.
We wont forget you.But we will try and forget your 10 FG'S Missed last year. That is pathetic. His agent is a ****ing ***.

Rosenhaus? Eh, agents are ****ing ***** by nature but Drew shouldnt be considered anything but a friend to the Dolphins.

Speaking of the Mare thing, this just seems to be badly handled. Unless we miraculously get a pick out of some trade then this has been something of a **** up by camram

hes a kicker his only ability lies in his legs, not much to be ****y about. they show the least physical ability of any person on the team. a punter occasionaly has to act out to get a roughing the kicker call

Surely it's good for a kicker to be confident? Even when they're missing as much as Mare lately, you don't want them lining up to take a kick and getting too flustered about not making it.

It's very rare that teams even use a draft pick on a kicker, they are usually signed as FA's.

Janakowski is the only kicker I can recall being drafted. maybe a 6th round or 7th round pick but certainly nothing early round like Janakowski was.

So why are the Dolphins so worried about getting compensation for a kicker when we released Kevin Carter & Randy McMichael and didnt even make an attempt at a trade?

Carter and McMichael both signed with teams and I would imagine they will both start with the Bucs and the Rams respectively so werent they worth SOMETHING?

maybe because we actually stand a chance of getting something? is this a trick question?

Mare Wants Out

There's no lines to read between here
Kicker Olindo Mare said Sunday he is so unhappy with his current status with the Dolphins, he has offered to return to the team a $250,000 bonus he was paid earlier this month in exchange for being cut or traded immediately.
The Dolphins are trying to trade Mare but have not allowed his agent Drew Rosenhaus to initiate any talks with other teams for his client.
''If they want to get rid of me so bad, and people are asking for me, then do it,'' Mare said during Sunday's dinner leading up to the Jason Taylor Golf classic charity event.
``I've got a family. I've got a new baby. I'm ready to move on. This is heartbreaking for me to leave, but I know it's time and I don't have a choice.''

Hmmm, lets see. Carter and McMichael were due huge roster bonuses of atleast $3 million whereas Mare has already been paid his of $250,000.

is this a trick question?
It sure was a trick question and obviously you didnt get it.

Those two (Carter/McMichael) were still playing at starter level regardless of the bonuses so why not even attempt to trade them?

We could have asked for a practice squad player and at least come out with something.

However, that team has not offered up anything in trade and thus the Phins have no trade worked out.
Exactly!

What team is willing to give up anything valuable for a kicker who missed 10 fg's the previous season when they can just wait until we release him?

What is Miami expecting, maybe they need to wine & dine Matt Millen because I dont see any teams jumping on a deal on our terms for Mare.

The Jets drafted their kicker in round 2 in 2005.

Good riddance to Mare, I was never a big fan of his.

OK, now we have two examples....like I said IT'S RARE!

How many players are drafter per year?

250 maybe?

I would speculate you could count the kickers on one hand.
