Word is Florida asked for Sean Henn and Scott Procter and the Yanks didn't say no!!!!!!!! They are working out the details of a deal.

Im not a huge Pierre fan (as noted in the past), but with Giles off the market and I don't want to give big bucks to a breaking down Johnny Damon, this might be the best option. Considering we aren't giving up anything its worth a shot. Texas is also after Pierre.

Why the Yanks want him is because its a 1 year deal. After this year Pierre is arbitration eligable. So the Yanks can let him walk and in 2007 Andru Jones, Tori Hunter and others are FREE AGENTS. So they can make a move on one of them.

What a steal. I'm an Angels fan first but my dad is Yankees fan for life. I've always had a soft spot for them and I have to say this is a steal beyond steals.
 
Maybe the Marlins like pitchers who look like John Cena (Procter) and tall lefties who consistently throw one-hoopers to home plate (Henn).

Henn used to be considered something though...

Juan Pierre is regardless of his detractors a great player.
 
This would be a very good trade for the Yankees. Juan Pierre although isn't a strong bat (which the Yankees don't need anyway), he's very good on the bases in the field. Giving up Henn and Procter are no big deal.

Also Mike, Torii Hunter and Jones aren't free agents after the 2006 season. Hunter has a team option (which is a lot of money so the Twins could possibly let him go). Jones is a FA after the 2007 season (along with Vernon Wells).

CFers who are FA after 2006 are Jim Edmonds, Cameron (team option), Pierre, Randy Winn, Milton Bradley, Aaron Rowland (player and team option + arb.), Dave Roberts, Gary Mathews Jr., Steve Finley (team option), and David Dellucci.

From ESPN INSIDER: What makes Pierre attractive is that it's likely a one-year deal, since Pierre can become a free agent after the season and the 2007 class of free-agent center fielders will include Andruw Jones, Torii Hunter and Mike Cameron.

You might be reading it wrong, Class of 2007 could mean after the 2007 season?

He signed a contract in 2001 for 6 years so doing the math that means he'll be a FA after the 2007 season. Maybe you should write to ESPN to correct them.
 
Ugh, Henn and Proctor are crap. We have enough pitching prospects, especially starters. We want Cano. Cano and Proctor is not too attractive to me. But the Marlins would pull the trigger on that. This is sad....
