Ok i am a suscriber to ESPN insider and i went to espn.com and went to NFL and clicked on rumors and there this big article on all the places peppers could wind up and the dolphins were one of them named. It also says peppers to patriots is loosing steam. Heres the article.

Peppers-to-Pats losing steam. Now what?

Julius Peppers | Panthers | Interested: Dolphins? Packers? Broncos? Cowboys? Jets? Patriots?
After Vic Carucci of NFL.com posted a report earlier this week, saying that the New England Patriots were close to a deal that would grant them Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers in exchange for a second-round draft pick, it would now appear that this outcome is unlikely, unless the people involved are all in on a ruse.

Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald cites individuals from both parties who have now publicly stated there has been no discussion about Peppers landing with the Pats. Carl Carey, Peppers' agent, told the Herald that while the Pats had not contacted him about Peppers, "we have had preliminary discussions with GMs from other clubs in the league." Pats coach Bill Belichick, in a radio appearance on WEEI, indicated that the team prefers to deal directly with other teams and not with agents such as in this situation. He then cited Matt Cassel as an example of what franchised players should do if they want to be traded: sign the tender, and then ask for the trade.
All of this could be an attempt by Belichick to control the flow of information coming out of New England, and the Patriots could very well be internally considering the trade that has been getting so much play in rumor circles this week. But apparently until Peppers signs the Panthers' franchise tender - a one-year, $16.8 million deal - none of it will come to fruition.
As for the general managers "from other clubs in the league", this could be a number of individuals, but based on what Peppers has said he wants, we can eliminate many. It's likely that Peppers wants a deal similar to what Albert Haynesworth, Jared Allen and Dwight Freeney possess, and he has also stated he wants to play as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 system, and for a contending team. A team that was rumored to be in the hunt was the Dallas Cowboys, but Jerry Jones and Co. have been committed to working out an extension for DeMarcus Ware, who is the incumbent sackmaster in Dallas, and having two high-priced players at the same position doesn't make sense. Similarly, the Miami Dolphins could afford Peppers' price tag, but Joey Porter is already on the roster, he of the 17.5 sacks in 2008.
This leaves the New York Jets and the Green Bay Packers. Some salary cap finagling would have to take place, but Peppers would be welcomed by either organization. The Jets would have a surefire playmaker instead of going forward with the Vernon Gholston experiment, a situation which could make or break them in 2009. As for the Packers, while Aaron Kampman is slated to take on the role as the outside rushing linebacker after eight seasons as a defensive end, Peppers is an upgrade. One final intriguing possibility gaining momentum in rumor circles is a trade of Peppers to the Denver Broncos for fellow disgruntled player Jay Cutler. Pat Yasinkas, who covers the NFC South for ESPN.com, cautions that such a move wouldn't fit the profile of Panthers management. However, it would provide an escape for Cutler, and a chance for Peppers to play in a 3-4 scheme. This would likely mean that Chris Simms would be starting for the Broncos next season unless Jake Delhomme was included in the trade package. In either case, it would be hard to argue that the Broncos would be contending any better than the Panthers.

This is simply speculation but peppers a dolphin would certainly make my day....

I would love this. I would love him comin off the corner for us.

we are not making a SuperBowl run in 2009. why spend the money on a veteran? home grown is much cheaper & healthier in everyway for you.

It also says in the ESPN insider the dolphins are rumored to have interest in Samari Rolle. But the got dam jets are interested in him to im sure he will go there like every other ex raven....

So what if Joey Porter is still on the team. Peppers wouldn't be playing the weakside anyways. Unless they are talking about Porter's salary and taking his cap hit if he is traded or released.
Having Porter at WOLB and Peppers at SOLB would give us a dynamic duo that would rival some of the best in the NFL.

woohooooooooo!!!!! I wouldn't mind this one bit. A 2nd for a defensive stud????

And thats why its not going to happen....you really think the Panthers are going to settle for a 2nd round pick?

Thats why the Patriots and Panthers deal got cold....all the pats were willing to give was a 2nd round pick. Plus Carolina doesnt have a 1st round pick this year, and Im sure they would love to have one.

Peppers was a 1st overall pick in 2001 or 2002 (Cant remember) the Panthers want at least a 1st round pick, and rightly so...Peppers is worth every bit of it.

If AJ Feeley and Daunte Culpepper got traded for a 2nd round pick, then Peppers should get traded for like two 1st round picks

he is gonna want too much money which we cant spend right now. Thats the only reason the pats arent going after him

He fits the mold...6-7 283 and like a bullet. He was drafted in the first rd..2nd overall in 2002.

Didn't the article say that the Dolphins could afford him? That doesn't mean they are interested right?

Of course the Pat’s will deny all contact, I am sure they want to avoid a tampering inquiry!

Peppers is a free agent......technically. He can talk to anyone he wants.

I'd offer them the 44th pick, Matt Roth and a conditional 2010 pick that could go as high as a third.

Peppers is not a FA - he was franchised. He has not signed but he is not free. He can talk but he can't sign!

You offer would also have to include a $100M contract which he said he wants. That is insane and NOBODY in the league will pay that for him. No Way! The Redskins are the only team stupid enough to throw money around like that and because of it they cannot even sign guys to minimum deals now. Miami is set at DE and I'm sure knowing BP's history he will add a DE in the draft as well. Peppers would have to move to OLB in a 3-4 and we don't need to pay $20M/yr to teach an old guy a new position.

You want a trade - go for NT, DB, or WR. Now that would make sense because we could use a #1 at each position still.

I don't think this makes any sense at all either. I mean you already have Philip Merling on that end who you can develope and you have Cameron Wake who was a sackmaster in the CFL and a guy who's got great speed for someone his size. It's uneccessary if you think about it, to trade whatever you have to trade for a DE who's going to have a huge salary.

Sure he's one of the best in the NFL but I think it's more of a reactionary move in response to what the Pats, the Bills and the Jets have done, as opposed to a smart move.
