Going to be really interesting to see how these two progress throughout the week. Cold/windy weather and Manning without those two targets could really flip the advantage to the Fins.

No way Sanders gets cleared before our game. That was a brutal hit.

even if sanders did get cleared, he'd be a fool to play. brain bruising doesn't heal in 7 days time. hell it often doesn't heal at all.

I don't think so either. I did some digging and since the new concussion protocol has come out players on average miss 16 days before they return to the field. He might not even make it back for their game next week vs KC.

correct me if i am wrong, but didnt eddy lacy have a concussion week 1 and played the following week?

granted he had 10 days to get cleared rather than 7, but i guess it is also the degree of the concussion. supposedly sanders was alert in locker room after the game sunday

Yep he did, but I have no idea how severe either concussion was. The number I posted was just the average so there are going to be some higher and some lower. I'm guessing most players normally miss one week and there are outliers that increase the average.

There are a lot of different grades and types of concussions so it's hard to tell. One of the clear signs of a really big concussion is something that's called the "fencing response", which is where one or both arms tend to stiffen up on someone who's been concussed. We've all seen it happen. When searching for an image I came across this hilarious example from wikipedia:

It's not an all the time thing; you can have a severe concussion without exhibiting the fencing response, but there's a high correlation. Anyway, Sanders didn't go into that pose after his hit so it's at least possible he'll come back. If he had stiffened up like that you could pretty much rule him out.

It would better for us obviously if neither played but if I had my choice I'd prefer if Thomas was out. He's the more vital piece.

There is a basic theory that if concussion is sustained then the player should automatically miss the next game to give the brain more time to fully recover. It will be interesting if Denver observe this medical practice.
Significant problems can occur when players are rushed back and sustain another brain injury.

If he does suit up and play, I bet his play will be a little timid. We've got a few guys back there that can lay the smack down.

i honestly want both guys to play.

i know i maybe in the minority, but i truly want to see how we stack up vs an elite team on the road.

denver has as good of an offense as anyone in the nfl, especially at home, where think they have only scored under 30 once so far. they are lethal.

i know a win is a win regardless of who is playing, but i want to see how we stack up vs the best of the best in there place

It's possible.

I don't know, you will be hard pressed to find a healthy team this time of year. As many injuries as we have had I will take any advantage we can get.

They already have one player who's walks the concussion path (Welker) so I'm sure they don't want another.
