I know it's old news and I should move on, blah blah blah. But I can't help but think that we would have had a much better shot of having La'el Collins right now on this team bolstering our O Line if our coaching staff would have been realistic with Albert's recovery.

If they would have have said to Collins when they spoke (or through Pouncey and gang) that La'el would have every opportunity to start at Tackle day one and compete for that role going forward as a starter, he would have been much more inclined to join the Fins. Instead they dug in with Albert being their guy and pitched La'el with a guard role.

We had a legitimate shot at getting this guy as a udfa, and a huge bargaining chip in getting him in a fin uniform would have been to dangle his dream, a shot at starting Tackle, and we blew it. We missed an opportunity for a free 1st round player and an instant upgrade to our line because of ignorance and blind optimism.

He has not been a world beater in Dallas and just had his first start at guard this past week but I doubt anyone would argue that the mere option of having him on the field for us is a huge upgrade over our current O-line situation. As a fill in at tackle, a starter at guard or even just a quality young depth player he would have helped.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda at this point; but just more fuel to keep my ever growing hatred for Philbin and company burning stronger.

Wow, didn't know you had inside information and were in the room when they were talking to him. By the way, were is he starting on the Cowboys O-line again? You know the team he grew up rooting for, or so he says, I don't know I wasn't in the room with him.

I can't help but THINK this, not know it. In my opinion he would have been more likely to consider us if we had a stronger offer. Nothing absolute or definitive in my logic or wording. And he started this past weekend at guard for the cowboys.

The offer to start on the O-line was presented to him I'm sure...instead he chose to join the Cowboys where he knew he had a very long shot to start. He went and played with his favorite team. We couldn't offer him more money based on the CBA so he chose to play with Dallas. No amount of coaxing, promises or anything else was changing his mind. If Jarvis Landry, who he played with, wasn't going to convince him then nothing was...and he's in a division playing against another former teammate in OBJ so any affection he may have had for the guys he played with was trumped by his loyalty to the team he grew up rooting for.

We also don't know if he's any good at the NFL level. There have been plenty of top pick O-lineman that never panned out.

If you were La'el Collins, would you join the Dolphins???

Call me old fashioned but I would love an opportunity to make and instant impact on a team. If I was confident in my ability and knew a team was in desperate need of said abilities, then of course I would jump at the opportunity.

So yes, yes I would. Especially if I had the opportunity at my preferred position.

La'el Collins is not a Dolphin for one major reason: under. the. table. money.

People think everyone plays by the rules.

FWIW I watched him a bit in the Philly game and he struggled quite a bit. I also thought it was pretty weird he was alternating with the other guard. So yes, I wish we had got him, but probably wouldn't make that big of a difference. And with Scherff going before our pick and Mathis playing poorly, too, well... can't say it's easy to say what we should have done.

Join a team where he has a huge shot of starting over a team he has little to no chance of starting right away...yea, I think he would pick the Dolphins. Question is: Did the Dolphins want him?
