Sometimes still see posts where people think he was just a WR in college before making the switch.
He was recruited by Texas A&M as a QB, and he practiced as a QB throughout his first three seasons (including Red Shirt) in addition to the WR duties. Sherman asked him to play WR because of his great athleticism- size, speed, hands, and smart route running. But the plan all along was for RT to play QB and compete for the starting job.
He finally won the job midway through his junior season. He in no way is a "converted WR", just a QB who happened to do a damn good job playing WR while he was waiting his turn at QB.
Of course, if the point is that he hasn't had as much experience playing QB in college as others- that is valid, since a lot of his practice reps and attention would have been as a WR instead of all QB all the time.
Just thought I'd set the records straight for any newcomers.
thanks.
