just a reminder that were not always right

Well I dont know that Miami traded him because he didnt fit as you suggested..He had played in a WCO before and even tho he liked to adlib(Sp) on the fly he still could be that guy for your team..Miami got pretty good value back for him in my opinion...I think its one of those trades that both teams benefit from..I think him back with Jay makes a big impact..and I am pretty sure the Bears are now running a west coast offense under Mike Tice..The fact is any player can be traded at any time...I think alot of the posters were saying no because it was more of suggestion not a defenitive we have to trade him.

1200 Yards, over 80 rec a year...he's a scrub? LOL...
No charges against him in the club means no suspension, means we got robbed as our only elite WR in 2 decades is gone for piss..

So ridiculous how people underestimate his value. Guess you'll see this year when our passing game is dog crap when our best WR is Bush.
Can't wait how you aqua colored glasses people will turn that into a positive.

Ok, scrub may be a bit harsh...still he only had 6 TDs this year, 3 last year and 9 TD passes dropped over the same time period, not to mention the other 12 or so drops he had as well. His stats were not indicative of an elite WR that everyone seems to think he is... he was a locker room cancer, on the field problem and off the field problem. He continually bashed/bashes his teammates and coaches...now, how is that a guy we needed to keep on the roster ??

Marshall could be successful in any system he plays in assuming he gets his head screwed on straight. The problem is the guy is about as stable as Uranium and just about as deadly to the locker room.

I would assume that Ireland might have thought that a change of scenery and the level headed approach of Sparano might help Marshall get on track and grow up but hey we all misjudge people from time to time and those who say they don't misjudge themselves. Marshall is a good player but he needs to take care of his own demons to be great, stats aren't the only measure of a hall of fame caliber player, leadership and the lead by example also come into play. Marshall doesn't do either of the latter and until he does he will be a good athletic WR who has the potential to be great but isn't.

Yeah this thread seems a little "look at me" but I understand why he did it.

When you say something that has a legitimate point and everyone jumps on you to tell you how wrong/dumb you are... you kind of feel like rubbing it in their face later to show that you were right.

Carry on, OP.

Exactly. You get attacked for going against the grain, but when you end up being right...no one says a word...the people who are always wrong just keep on spewing the same crap...but are loved on this forum..

I thought this thread would be more about the fact that a year ago over 3/4 of the site would have jumped all over anyone who even suggested that Marshall wasn't a top 5 receiver. The notion that he was nothing special, and that the team would be better off without him-- two assertions which are thrown out regularly now-- would have been unthinkable. But now that he's been passed off to the next team willing to take a gamble on a career malcontent, suddenly the knives come out. And, even more remarkable, the fact that Brandon Marshall is now torn to shreds all the time on this site, yet Ireland and Co. take no heat for the move, despite the fact that it blew up in their faces.

Yes, and they did...because I was the one who argued that point...I would love to find that thread now...

Someone can go find it if they like...its there....

This a great thread. The OP goes fishing for a pat on the back and everyone makes sure to take a **** in his mouth. Not sure what he was expecting, but still, it's nice to see the internet functioning properly.

Anywho, as many have stated, the "fit" in a WCO wasn't the reason Marshall was traded. It's because he's a ****ing horse's ass who thinks he's Calvin Johnson when the reality is he's an emotionally fragile butter fingers who needs his quarterbacks to "throw it up" to him because he can't create any separation.

Good riddance. Was always a terrible trade, and I thought so from day one.

I was going through some of my old post and ran across this one shortly after Philbin was hired where I suggested that Marshall could be traded or released. Just a reminder that as much as many people here like to play fantasy GM, were not always right as most everybody said no way in the world we would get rid of him. http://www.finheaven.com/forums/sho...t=does+brandon+marshall+fit+west+coast+system

I feel what you are getting at, Ive been wrong plenty times and I can admit. But to get some posters on here to admit that? Yeah! Good luck. What you fail to realize, that there is a lot of know it all on this site..

Jim is a boy. Jim wears a hat. Therefore all boys wear hats. True or false?

hey what do you know, here's a thread I made back in November saying we should trade him while he's worth something.

http://www.finheaven.com/forums/sho...d-to-deal-Marshall-for-draft-picks&highlight=

That's another nice chest-thumper of a thread.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know for myself that ever since right around when Brandon Marshall came out public with the fact that he's diagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder, my position has been:

1. He's a damn talented receiver, valuable to an offense, and I don't give a damn how many of you guys whine about dropped touchdowns or whatever. He's a good football player.

2. He's also a ticking time bomb, and the Dolphins should think about trading him while they can get something of value for him.

Exactly... we can predict the outcome correctly (and accidentally) using the wrong logic.

In this case, the question assumed that if he fit the WCO that would be the determination that we use to keep Marshall. As CK points out above, there are obviously other factors. Pro Football is a business and whether we like it or not personality and off-the-field issues are relevant.
