The ONLY silver lining here for us that I can think of is that the front office is going to basically use this year to evaluate all of the players and go through a massive house cleaning again in the off-season. I think we will rotate in guys to see what they can do in various situations, regardless if it makes sense or not (i.e. ginn not playing).

Bill knows that he inherited an 80's bucs type situation where face it, besides ronnie brown and possibly langford, merling, long and maybe ginn and henne, we really don't have any real talent on this team. I think this year is going to be a serious evaluation year. Bill doesn't care what the fan base thinks, as he has a friendship with wayne. Bill doesn't want to tarnish his legacy and I don't think that he would take on something that he couldn't fix. To make sure he took guys who he shaped while in dallas to make sure HIS principles are adhered to.

Bottom line is our team won't be competitive IMO, for about 4 years or maybe sooner but miami has never really had the ability to lure in high end free agents. The only thing we can do is lure in high end washups and pay them lucrative contracts (cough..cough porter..cough) and watch them get injured or be a waste of roster space.

We need to relax and really realize the REAL situation miami is in here. We are a VERY VERY bad team and once again some idiots were picking us to win 7-8 games. VERY typical even during the wanny years where we actually had a defense and all those "miami is going to go 10-6 or 11-5 and win the division years" on all the preseason mags. Yeah we know how that went. Everyone needs to stop buying into the hype and start doing what bill is. EVALUATE during the games. That is exactly what is going on and expect a seriously thorough housecleaning next offseason and a pretty productive free agency and draft this year for the first time in a very long time. We got hints of what is to come with this past draft.

Also the WORST thing we can do IMO is let Henne start for another 2 years. The psyche of rookies now-a-days is just not there (look at vince young). I understand young was a higher pick BUT henne knows that he has a very good shot here. I think he needs to carry the clip board (ala rogers, pennington, romo) and LEARN the game. He has a phenomenal mentor in parcells as well as having chad on board allows him to learn the things that rookies wouldn't pick up for awhile. We ruined beck and we IMO will do the same with Henne. Henne has tougher skin but if you look at most other teams, they let their rookie qb's sit. Just watch in cleveland in a few years. Look at rogers now. How is jackson doing in minny? Exactly.

Keep your head up fellas. I know it is hard but for us die hard fans. Our day is coming...

News Flash! uh, this is our 'house cleaning'!

2/3 of the former roster was turned.

Entire new coaching staff

New management.

What else would you like to change?

This isn't a one year process. It was never sold as such. It's going to take more than one year of house keeping to clean up the mess that's been built over a decade.

True BUT they have never been able to evaluate our roster like they are going to do. I don't buy into the doghouse deal for ginn just yet. He has too much potential to at least not return kicks. They are evaluating what we have and you will see this again in the offseason. Porter and allen will not be here next year. We will actually probably be ablet to lure in free agents next year for the first time in decades. Most of are starters are not capable starters and they are seeing what they are made of to see if at least they can be backups.

Did you not watch Phi @ Dallas yesterday? Why in the world is Penny our starter?
Plug him into either of those lineups and instant losers. I don't understand a master plan that insures we can't win.

it's funny how we find ourselves saying: "We'll be good in three years"
I remember saying that 3 years ago, and 3 years before that.

So, you're saying it's possible to be a Super Bowl contender tomorrow?

Give me a break. Bill inherited the crapholes of all crapholes and you actually believe we will win more than 1-2 games this year? You really thought when you plopped down your money for NFL sunday ticket that it would really have a great return this year?

Guys wake up. You don't win games playing 13 quarterbacks since marino retired along with 4 head coaching changes in 8 years. We have never put ourselves in a position to win. I won't even talk about the past 8 years in terms of draft stats. Abysmal! Quite simply put you cannot win with what I mentioned up there without either having the ability to make a herschel walker type deal or striking it rich in the draft and in free agency. We have NEVER been able to get free agents here and I don't blame them. Great city but a huge craphole in terms of talent. That is going to change and it already has with this past draft.

Give it time. Miami IMO will get back into it because we have the F.O. now that knows how to win. Bill wouldn't tarnish his legacy and go out on the bottom. I think we will win but it is going to take 4 years. We have all been duped in by unncessary expectations and fanfare the past how many years. I think we have something here.

I can go along with the house cleaning for a year or two or even three-- IF we don't have to clean the same spots over and over. And while we're cleaning will the TUNA....check his ego and evaluate his hand picked coaches and hold his FRIENDS to the same House Cleaning and if need be ---admit he made a mistake (OC..DC..ST..which ever) and replace that or those who need to be. A little modern thinking on both sides of the line would be nice for change.

good article brother.....its gonna take a while because its being done right.

Maybe part of the plan might be to draft in a hight position for the first two years, considering the total dearth of talent left on this team. Something like calling running plays on 90% of the first downs until we are sufficently behind that catching up becomes unlikely. No team can completely rebuild in one year, especially after people like Wrongstadt, and Satan put their stamp on this team. Maybe there hasn't been a consious decision to do this, but if it works that way, so what, there's at least a couple of years where nobody expects us to be competitive.

(...sigh...)

And just exactly what would have been your master plan, o genius of the pigskin? How would you have turned our sorry-arse 1-15 team around in just one year?

Bottom line, if you expect us to even be competitive this year (or next for that matter) you are in for some serious disappointment.

As for your last statement, yeah great idea! Let's trade Penny for McNabb or Romo. I'm sure they'd go for it. Sheesh! You act as if these type QB's are simply laying around on the ground to be picked up and inserted into our starting lineup.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Niether will our Miami Dolphins.
